SC still has major scholly reductions for this year and they still don't have a coach. You think Sumlin really leaves in the middle of the year? SC most likely ends up waiting to get their HC. If we lose Kaaya, fine but lets calm down get off the ledge and at least come back inside the window. It's not like there are things to like about Miami's offense and the guy recruiting him isn't a certified beast at what he does........

You're the type of guy who knows next to nothing outside of the Canes and how college football operates, especially if a big time program brings in a big time coach. Get back into your middle school playbook.

No I know plenty, and am the first one that will call something out about our own, example being; our WR corp was overrated and I said that in the summer. Regardless, back on topic, what did I post that was off? SC still is on probation and will only sign a class of around 15, and guess what their main issue is? It ain't QB, it's their defense. Second, as already mentioned, they probably don't hire a coach til December. By then they would be too late in the game, recruiting is all about relationships. Lastly, and once again, QB talent isn't the most paramount issue at SC right now. So go ahead and continue to insult me, when you yourself aren't adding anything of value or substance. You are worried about a team, that still hasn't even offered the kid?

Its definitely their qb, they're both awful. Theres a reason Kiffin was alternating them **** near by possesion. The national media has been ripping Kiffin and his qbs for the entire season, why they're so bad and he's a supposed offensive " guru".

The defense had been excellent up to Arizona State, before that meltdown there was plenty of analysis that considered them the best defense in America.

SC is not a factor for Kaaya. Kids from Chaminade don't go to SC. Kaaya was never an SC fan. He has zero ties to SC. He has ties to UCLA. If he's going anywhere other than Miami it's UCLA.
Several reasons they didn't offer sooner. They had another highly ranking QB who was a longtime dreaded "silent verbal"--changed his mind, announced for another school. Then they had a QB on the roster who got beaten out for the back-up QB role and decided to transfer. Suddenly, there's an opportunity that didn't appear before when Kaaya originally committed.
Recruits can't sign until February. Until then, a verbal commitment is non binding and situations change and kids change their minds all the time. Time to start looking at backup plans.

Kids from S. Florida pass up an offer from Miami all the time. Say its the dream school, yada yada, and still leave for Alabama, Arkansas or Trailerhasse. Like you said, he likes Miami and has been recruiting for Miami. I think he has a good relationship w/ the other recruits in the class and the coaching staff, so there is no reason for a lot of the folks in this thread, besides the typical idiots, to freak out, IMO.

Very curious to know who you are. Joining today just to make what seems to be a very knowledgeable post about Kaaya's situation. Well, tell Brad that the opportunity to play at Miami is unparalleled for a QB. The playmakers around him are explosive all he has to do is manage the game and get the ball in their hands. He could take Miami's talent to the national championship. The QB situation here is also diminished and he would be guaranteed a role AT WORST behind Olsen. Many think he can beat Olsen out. Why does he like UCLA more than Miami (if thats what you are saying is true)? Can't believe that distance alone does that. The potential to win championships is certainly greater at Miami. UCLA has academics. You tell me.

That's a remote fear from a remote *****. First, USC won't announce a new HC until December at the earliest, and Kaaya's got too much character to dump UM at that late stage. Then, they would have to hire Sumlin away from A&M, and why would he leave there for USC? A&M would match whatever they offered him. Third, I doubt USC wants to hire another HC that can't field a defense. The last one got fired, in large part, because of that. Fourth, what makes Sumlin so irresistible to Kaaya that he'd dump UM at such a late stage and go somewhere where they already have a bunch of young QBs?

I think this has little to do with charater as it does with emotions and location. Any coach who wants to win big would leave AM and head to SC in a heart beat. You should know this with all your time in the football lab. SC is a top-shelf job that has tons of unlimited potential with the right guy in place. It really isn't all that different than the job here outside of a longer standing tradition. Haden didn't like the hiring of Kiffin and that surely didnt change when he came on as the AD. He was smart in letting that sht head suck up most of their probation and then dropping the hammer on him towards the end. Sumlin can field a complete team at SC and hire some big time assistants there. Sumlin can sell his success at AM and Houtson, the program of SC, staying close to home, and put this kid in the same spotlight as Johnny. It's no different than what we outline for local kids when Golden was hired. Or at any other point when local kids are considering schools outside of the area. He can work this kid over better than UCLA can. SC is the top dog in that town and you will see that again in a few years. Haden will get a coach in the there that will get them rolling again soon.

To ignore the concept of SC in the recuriting game is nonsense. Us posters look for potential pitfalls all the time in recruiting. I just happen to think SC could be one of those potentially.

Mike, USC has had several prolonged down periods over the years. Remember Ted Tollner, John Robinson Part II, Larry Smith and Paul Hackett? LOOOOONG *** period of down time. They stumbled into Carroll, who was their 5th option, or they would have remained irrelevant. There's no guarantee that they'll be back to the Carroll level any time soon. And to assume that Sumlin would leave A&M just to go there is foolhardy.

This and there is NOTHING wrong with Kaaya making a decision that benefits him and his family. People like to throw out that oh "What about your hometown" stuff. Well it works BOTH WAYS. Honestly what has the "hometown" ever done for ANY of these kids. Choose the college and football program you are most comfortable with. "Hometown" or not.
