He still missed out on that money tho
He's still going to get that second contract.

What's your opinion on players skipping bowls for NFL draft prep?
Personally, I hate seeing it. I wish players would play in the games for their school and take pride in it. But, on the other hand, I completely understand their decision, especially if you're playing in the 6-6 bowl like FSU. It's a fine line to cross, but I believe the players have an obligation to themselves, teammates and coaches to play in the bowl. What do you guys think?

I like it. You've giving a school three to four years up to that point. You've fulfilled your obligations.
This issue will really only be relevant for a small number of guys each year. If you're a mid-round projection, then obviously you play in the game to improve your stock against solid competition. If you're a stud but your team is playing in a New Years 6 game, then you still play because you've invested so much work to get to exactly that point. If you're a 1st round talent and your 7-5 team is playing in the Flora-Bama Hooters Hot Wings Shootout against Northeast Utah State, then by all means skip the thing and begin your career.
I like it, am ok with it, have no problem with it...I think more players who are legitimate NFL prospects should do it. You got pro prospects who aren’t even going to go to another college class but you want them to play in a meaningless bowl game?I like it. You've giving a school three to four years up to that point. You've fulfilled your obligations.
You like it? Or, you're ok with it?

It's overblown.
People act like he lost everything and his career was over.
The guy starts for the Dallas Cowboys and will make upwards of $7 million before his second contract.
It's all melodrama.
If it's a meaningless bowl, and you are a top 15 pick, you'd be crazy to play in it imo.
And I have an old school mentality, but it's a business decision that should be taken seriously.

I like that a kid has the balls to stand up for what’s best for him & his family’s future.
I’m not talking playoffs or national championships, I’m talking about these BS lower tier bowls.
exactly . But it’s easy for dudes to come on here and say stuff like that when it’s not their money....and still, he missed out on that money

100% wrong answer.....He lost $14 million, 200% more than what he will earn during these 4 years. End of story. He may still get a 2nd contract for $50 million dollars but he hasn't yet.
That $14 million is gone......That is not MELODRAMA that is real money gone. He can blow his knee in the next game and never get that 2nd contract.
And $7 million, after taxes, agent fees, etc....is more like $3.8 million over 4 years. While nice, having $10 million banked is a **** of lot nicer.
The only melodrama is selfish fans feeling that these guys should risk that for their personal enjoyment.
