Bowl Bids

My guy told me that it looks like we'll be in the Rustled Bowl. I am so confident in what my guy is telling me that I've booked my reservations at the Grand Floridian.

Would the Russell do a Miami-UGA set up? They wouldn't do the Gata because Orlando would be a Home Game for them.

Unfortunately it would be vs a big 12 school. It would be a dream come true to go to orlando to play gates, but unfortunately not possible. Would much rather play the turds but I hate Jacksonville. Love orlando, but not nearly excited about watchin west virginia. I guess oklahoma would be ok.

Oklahoma? Like #9 Oklahoma, or is there some bowl game in the state of Oklahoma?

WVa could easily be a top 10 team after this weekend. Would be a huge matchup for the program to face a top 10 team in the bowl game.

I would assume that non-Miami fans would see either of those matchups as pretty lopsided. Put it this way, what would we be saying if we'd held on to our top 10 ranking and got an unranked bowl opponent?

Probably, but I bet the spread wouldn't be more than 3 points. It's a crime we aren't ranked right now, but it's been clear the past few weeks that Vegas respects us.

But only so much. Losing four winnable games has kept us out of the top 25.

That said, beating OK in Orlando would sure be a feather in Richt's cap.

We aren't going to play OK. As for the losses keeping us out, I'm just comparing it to teams that are ranked like Pitt (who we crushed) and Iowa (who lost to NW and an FCS opponent). We weren't even close to being ranked and I'm not sure why. Hopefully we get the Rustle with a top 10 opponent to fire this team up and go into recruiting season with some momentum.

Not a fan of playing WVU...

That scenario isn't "more prestigious" than us facing the Gators.

LOL @ these dopes that make stupid **** like that up.

***** WVU. I don't want to play them. We gain nothing by beating them (yes, I'm aware they are a top 25 team).

Give me the Gators or Georgia. We have way more to gain by beating them.

Rustle bowl selects before the Gator bowl. Playing a top 10 team with two losses is a more prestigious scenario than being passed over into the next tier of bowls. Tell me how great it worked out for recruiting last time we beat an overrated UF team. I'm rooting for the Gator against the gators, but you're kidding yourself to think that's a more meaningful game for the program.

I'm guessing it's because pitt is our best win, whereas clem is their best win.

What do we care more about national prestige/respect or recruiting?

I think his point is that beating Florida is significant because we want to lock down the states best recruits which im sure we compete more with UF than WVU for those players.

I think beating UF is better for our recruiting than beating WVU.

If a kid we want is a Florida lean its much easier to counter recruit by using the fact that we whipped that ***.

Right but beating them should count for something. Totally forgot about #14 Auburn too. Why are they even ranked? Hopefully after this year we will get the same amount of respect.

In theory it sounds better, but how many recruits did we take from Florida after beating them in 2013? I just don't think recruits really think like that with those head to head matchups. It's questionable whether we'd even be ranked after beating UF, but we'd definitely be ranked if we beat WVa.

It's as simple as that.

The ONLY team that truly benefits from the matchup is WVU.

You may be right; you may be wrong.

At the end of the day, you're riding with your gut on this.

As am I.

Fact is that beating UF will NEVER hurt us in the recruiting department. It could only HELP us. I do not feel the same way about WVU, at all -regardless of where they are ranked. We just have a difference of opinions on this.

Normally I would agree, but UF already has built in excuses with all the injuries. Hopefully we beat whoever it is we play, because ending with 9 wins is the most important thing.

Nobody remembers injuries -sans the hardest of hard core fans. If those ***** want to make excuses, it'll be status quo. They always have some stupid excuse for ducking us.

Most just look at the W at the end of the day, and never even consider factors such as injuries in the outcome of games.

With that said, I'm of the belief that beating UF helps us in the recruiting department. So, I'll gladly take a W against UF over WVU

Fact is that they are the SEC East "Champs."

Us knocking them off can't hurt us.

Beating uf or uga in a bowl will have no effect on miami recruiting. The only win this year that would have helped was beating fsu.

We recruit both states. It will help us more than a W against WVU, that's for sure.
