Boulware ready to compete for a job, set to report in July

“Also, having a couple Georgia boys down there too, like Deejay Dallas, definitely helped a lot. Deejay actually reached out before I came on the visit. So, just being familiar with everybody and the opportunity.”

The ambassador is still at work. ****, I love this dude!

I can't say any logical reason why, maybe it's just blind wishing, but I have a good feeling about this guy. My gut says he comes in, fills that RG slot capably and is a stabilizing force for this OLine corpse. 55 continues to get every rep at RT and is 2nd or 3rd team ACC at T as a sophomore, and kills it next year as an every snap player at LT.

We'll see, man, but that's my blind-*** prediction for how this thing shakes out. Boulware ends up starting 20-plus games for this team at RG and is a serious stabilizing force for the room.
I'm with you but there is no way I can imagine Donaldson at LT.

Instant starter, IMHO. Jones probably holds onto the other spot over Mahoney. Gotta get those second-year guys ready to go by end of season. We lose 3 starters in St Louis, Gauthier, and Jones to graduation.

I really have high hopes for this kid hoping he provide a physical upgrade over jones and Mahoney. Jones I can't stomach playing significant snaps for us that AQM video gives me nightmares and Mahoney is a guy who isn't the caliber of player we need here at miami

Guys progress, you aren’t going to win every play as a lineman

I don't know that I've ever heard of a grad transfer with 2 years left of eligibility! That's pretty awesome.

Agree with most of this except I don't see Navaughn ending up at LT. Most of the G/T tweener types are better fits at RT where they match up against the bigger SDEs. It would also be his third position change

I hear you, and a lot of smart football guys have said the same or similar. I think we're just holding Donaldson to a bit of a high standard for a guy who came in and started right away as a true frosh. And yeah, it's three position changes, but it's also sort of a natural progression, isn't it? So far, the on-the-field work certainly agrees with you, but I'm still clinging to the belief that Donaldson has it in him to be a very good LT at the college level. Whether he does or not, I'm not sure we have a better option on the roster.

You're in luck. According to our fans there's so much more of him to love this year.

Tell that to this guy.

Mahoney is a guy I don't mind coming in at Guard for a couple plays to let the starter catch his breathe, but thats about it. Mahoney absolutely should NOT be a starter here. And Jahair Jones has been complete garbage. Don't want him to start either.

I'm happy with Donaldson moving to RT, and hope that he works out there and that he can stick there for the rest of his Miami career.

Gauthier can play OG if needed with Gaynor taking over at center, but thats only if neccessary. I think that our final starting OLine depth chart will end up being:

LT: St. Louis > Hillery
LG: Scaife > Mahoney
C: Gauthier > Gaynor > Dykstra
RG: Boulware > Jones > Reed
RT: Donaldson > Herbert/Campbell

And wouldn't mind Bar Milo, George Brown jr, and Tre Johnson hitting the road along with Dayall Harris...(and ideally Malik Rosier too)

I like that lineup & actually think they would be average to above average.

This 100%

I actually like that starting lineup at OL. If Donaldson can make a successful transition to RT and Scaife up to the task, that could be an effective line. Maybe not dominant but more than serviceable. If this OL can find the right combination and gel together, our offense could be lethal depending on the QB obviously.

I will also add that everything seems to be aligning for the 2019 offense to potentially be our most potent in a very long time. I can't wait.
