A lot of the drivel from the BOT post-season was avoiding the appearance of controversy if they fired Golden, as the "narrative" (forwarded by Fataweenie Alfredo's camp) was he was blindsided by Shapiro...Never mind that it is documented he was a Sandusky and Jo Pa confident who should have been deposed about what he knew about CHILD MOLESTATION, Golden played the victim card and the BOT caved, using $$$ and the avoidence of negative media coverage and "scrutiny" as a reason not to fire Goldielocks.

Lo and behold, all UMiami's personalities, investments and dealings, most all NOT concerning athletics is going to bring more media "scrutiny" than any Golden firing.

Here is just a small wave preceding the Tsunami:

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/10/us/billionaire-lifts-marco-rubio-politically-and-personally.html

Highlights:

"The money has flowed both ways. Mr. Rubio has steered taxpayer funds to Mr. Braman’s favored causes, successfully pushing for an $80 million state grant to finance a genomics center at a private university and securing $5 million for cancer research at a Miami institute for which Mr. Braman is a major donor." (The article links to the UMiami's Miller School of Medicine)

"Mr. Rubio quickly emerged as a dogged champion of Mr. Braman’s most cherished cause: state funding for a Miami cancer institute that bears the Braman family name." (The article links to the UMiami's Sylvester Cancer Center)

Rubio, a UM law school graduate, will have more of his dealings with Braman, until 2012 a Miami BOT member, "scrutinized"

We have Donna taking over the Clinton Influence Peddling Syndicate, err, Foundation right as more revelations come out about State Department rubber stamping of its activities. If you think there won't be retrospectives, at a minimum, "scrutinizing" her actions at Miami to include not just Shapiro, but the med school, Jackson Health and the numerous Clinton Global Initiative shakedowns conducted at UM, you don't know how the Fox News, National Review and Wall Street Journal triangle works, not to mention the far left media looking for every way possible to draw Sen. Warren into the race.

Oh, BTW, Jeb Bush lives in Coral Gables...Not sure of a connection, but as the media "scrutinizes" his camapaign, there is bound to be a connection (the subject of the "Clinton Cash" author's next book is Jeb)

Just think of a Rubio vs. Clinton race, Braman vs. Shalala and all the press "scrutiny" that will entail.

Yep, the BOT's aversion to the "scrutiny" they would get for firing Fataweenie Alfredo, from the four letter, various local/Golden sycophant web sites and some University presidents in the US News survey will be nothing compared to the "scrutiny" coming in this presidential cycle because of university associated actions, actions mostly far away from the football field.

Think you might be reaching here. Rubio securing funding for anything cancer related in his home state will get a pass. The Troll Queen going to work for the Clintons now will be too late to connect her and UM to that mess. Be more patient than expecting the **** of Shalala's tenure to rise to the surface than the upcoming presidential election. Frenk will have to fix whatever mess she made with UHealth and will have to cast aspersion upon some of her management to save his own face in the short term. You're also underestimating the apathy of the American public. Good ol' Hillary's ratings seemingly even ticked up since all the reports of foreign cash to the CGI have started to emerge.

Thanks for your input; not too sure the Genome Institute, which met with a lot of local opposition, will get away with as much as the Braman...Heck, I wouldn't be shocked if Rubio's republican opponents didn't use it against him with the Crist and Shalala connections.

Donna will be the face of the foundation, there is bound to be some bringing up of her UM past depending on how deep the foundation is dragged into the campaign.

My main purpose was not so much politics as it was to show how the BOT, so concerned with "Optics" on Goldielocks, needs to understand that you can't put managing image ahead of doing what is right for the university: Firing Al Golden. The BOT, mostly composed of members surrounded by "Yes" people in their daily lives, have it all figured out until they don't. THEY are the ones who are seemingly blindsided by fellow BOT members, their University President and the politicians they give free reign to on campus.

They had a chance to do the right thing in one instance and failed.

"Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him ..."

All that money and nobody thought to save the OB? Smucks! I say, burn all the democrats at the stake and use the republicans as the wood.

Big time reaching, both on the "influence peddling" and the nonsense about trying to tie Golden to Sandusky's actions.

The rich win no matter who wins! As I told my wanna be political pundits on both sides, The Supreme Court legalized (it already was) the sell of "governments". We just get to pick who's gonna ***** us, maintain the right to complain about it and buy a bunch of guns from other rich guys. I just vote not because of some grand idealism of democracy, but because my ancestors died for the right "supposedly" guaranteed by the Constitution.

Back to my originally scheduled programming- FIRE AL GOLDEN!

Do some of you read an entire OP post and follow ups or just put on your academia or political hat on and fire away? This is not a logic exercise or a political point (although DK72's not thinking anything is untoward at Clinton's foundation/state department is either laughable or sad, not sure which), but an example of organizational hubris. Sure, there may not be many stories connected to UM this presidential politics marathon, but there MAY be a LOT of stories where UM is featured in a bad light and the stories have nothing to do with Miami Athletics. Instead of Firing Golden and doing what was right, the BOT rationalized their inaction partly by communicating it would be "bad press." It's not a conspiracy, its not a smoking gun, it is just media Karma happening to a bunch of people who think they are smarter than the rest, but in reality are ignorant to what is really going on.

Braman was the only one with clout that fought the destruction of the OB and called out the corruption.

He gets a pass. Permanently.

Oh, I read it. It's just a bunch of silly nonsense is what it is. That you are frustrated with the program is understandable. Doesn't make your silly and somewhat childish rants any less silly and childish.

I hope that the jabberwocky in this thread is not an example of an UM edjicashun/indoctrination. I'd like to think some of the replies indicate otherwise.
