Borregales hash v middle

Huerta as a freshman executed a successful onside kick and kicked the game winning FG against Michigan. He also kicked the game winning FG against Arkansas.
Yes but wasn’t he also in the 70% range his freshman year? That’s what Andy is. I do like that Andy does not really kick ducks. He has two misses off the upright and a block.

He missed a chip-shot vs Michigan State. Wide left, like the two he missed hitting the left upright. Something he needs to work on.
Interesting. didn't offhand recall that one.
Agree on the working on it part.

I am hopeful that he will develop into as clutch a kicker as his brother was. That being said, why is he so blindly given a pass just because he is a freshman? Wasn't he given a scholarship because he was expected to make kicks? The miss against UVA wasn't from 45+. It was a 33 yarder. An NFL extra point.

Any consideration that perhaps he is nursing an injury? I see a lot of judgement going down on a kid that has done a good job for this team.
He's a freshman regardless of his last name.

The people who are using his misses to argue Patke should be fired.
I think it’s more about not being put in the position where you have to rely on a true freshmen kicker so much. He already hit a game winner in game 2 of the season against a G5 program. Had he not hit that, we would have been 0-2 and eventually 0-3 with Sparty the next week.

So as a true freshmen he’s shown to be average with potential to be elite (55 yarder against MSU). This is about what I would have expected from him. What I didn’t expect was needing him to hit a game winning FG against App State and UVA so early in the season.

And people want Patke fired because he is a horrific coach at the position that matters the most.

Overheard literally never on the sidelines “OK take a knee in the middle of the field for this chip shot field goal.“

“No coach line it up at the tough angle!! You should know that!“

Yep, this place is definitely worse after a win than a loss.

I think I might be more worried about his pink cleats, the ear rings he wears and his face paint than I am about a true freshman missing a few kicks. Kid looks like he's dressed up for Halloween every Saturday.

Idk bro that’s a tough call. When we lose I avoid this site for the next 4-5 days lol

Play calling sucked but he should have made a 32 yard field goal. The scared *** play calling prior did him NO favors but he should have made the kick.
That entire series is quite literally the distillation of Manny's philosophy and coaching style and the reason he will never win anything.

We’re also one play a game from being 2-7. That’s what happens when every game is a dogfight and you can’t stop anyone. It’s a toss up and that’s a 50-50 shot.

We’re exactly what we should be.
Exactly. Anyone can play the "if" game. Play how you're supposed to play, then we wouldn't need to worry about a TF kicker making/missing a kick to win a game. I understand some games will be a dogfight, but our 4 real wins (excluding CCSU) was by a combined 10 points and those teams are not as talented as us. But, this is The New Miami, right?

He’s a true freshman and one of the least of Miami’s problems.

I did think his KOs were a bit weak. Wasn’t he kicking them into the endzone earlier in the season?
He's being instructed to kick them short, to force the returners into making a decision.
