Most of ya'll know, I'm super pro-Nike for many reasons, but one is that I know folks who work there and er (every) now & then, I get laced.
Anyways, talked to one of my connects there and we just started chatting about these mega deals that U-M, OSU, and UT (the real one, not the Volunteers) just signed....he's a pro-Miami guy himself. Basically said, Nike wanted to ensure that other schools know that when you win, you get broke off and they realize they can't just rely upon their status anymore (expect for Bama to break the bank in 2018).
Asked him about Miami; he said there's still some internal rifts about the decision to let us go since they had first rights...said it's similar to what happened with Steph Curry, that they dropped the ball too soon; but unlike Curry, who's now a partner with UA, when our contract runs out with Adidas and Mark turns this program back to into their baby (his words, not mine), expect for Nike to throw the kitchen and roses at us.
Again, just passing along info during this down time.
