Most of ya'll know, I'm super pro-Nike for many reasons, but one is that I know folks who work there and er (every) now & then, I get laced.

Anyways, talked to one of my connects there and we just started chatting about these mega deals that U-M, OSU, and UT (the real one, not the Volunteers) just signed....he's a pro-Miami guy himself. Basically said, Nike wanted to ensure that other schools know that when you win, you get broke off and they realize they can't just rely upon their status anymore (expect for Bama to break the bank in 2018).

Asked him about Miami; he said there's still some internal rifts about the decision to let us go since they had first rights...said it's similar to what happened with Steph Curry, that they dropped the ball too soon; but unlike Curry, who's now a partner with UA, when our contract runs out with Adidas and Mark turns this program back to into their baby (his words, not mine), expect for Nike to throw the kitchen and roses at us.

Again, just passing along info during this down time.

If you're not with us when we're down, don't try to be down when we're back up...

I don't speak for the school, but f*ck Nike.

If ur a business, and ur business partner ain't doing ish to show u that it's committed to earn your money back, what are u going to do?

Wasn't it a 12 year deal? Richt will most likely be retired by then. Hopefully, he passes on a winner & the next coach is a good hire. Anyways, by that point it may not matter for Nike. Under Armor has a good chance to be the popular choice by then. It's who we should've signed with a year ago.

Adidas is making moves. The Adidas cleats are pure fiyah and a lot of kids in youth football are wearing them now.

Texas ain't won **** and have been worse than Miami and they just got broke off

We also have a smaller core fan base and our national following comes and goes with whether we are winning or not. The large schools like Texas, although not currently relevant, have played for two national championships since our last one in 2002 and have more marketing power based on their core fan base. Even Penn State, who has not played for a national championship, has gone through major scandal and has been just as irrelevant as Miami the last 15 years was locked in by Nike.
Another factor could be our image. The bad boys of college football had major marketing appeal to certain fans but that image is almost all gone and buried. Same as the Georgetown Hoyas in college basketball. Throw in the Oakland Raiders and you will see what mediocrity and an image can do to a program marketing wise.

It's a long term deal with UM....only negative is I hear they're slow with merchandise delivery.

The fan wear is nicer than anything Nike ever put out. You must just not have looked. Embroidered not heat press crap that comes off after a few washings.

I will never understand why fans give a **** about a Nike, Adidas, UA, Reebok, etc. Its one of the most beta things I see on this board...

So I assume that you were buying season tickets and fully supporting the program during the last few years of Golden?
