Blue Chip Ratio

Yup, it will be out in a month or 2. I don't think its possible. We were 17 away last year from being above 50% and we signed a ton of 3 stars last year plus lost a bunch of 4 stars to graduating.
As they notated in the article Miami’s 2015 class was made of a bunch of 3stars which is why that is possible. Plus Miami’s is not operating at the full 85 scholarship limit. There’s 76 scholarship players or so on the roster right now.

"Blue chips" out of the starters on the 2001 Miami team:

Offense: Bibla, Andre Johnson, McGahee (FB) and Daryl Jones

Defense: William Joseph, Howard Clark, DJ Williams and Rumph

36% of "blue chippers".

That's it.

Year, sure sure. At that time was the "dark ages" of recruiting. NO ONE knew ANYTHING.

Uh huh.

Find the talent and get it. And develop it.

Good idea. Lets model ourselves off a team from 2 decades ago. Not the teams that are actually winning NCs in the modern era.

Knute Rockne has the highest winning coach in CFB history. We should copy his recruiting strategy of signing only unranked kids.

I was going off last years composite, which included non scholarship players(I think).

Uh huh.

And you seem to want to go with the Average Joes that make of the recruiting lists.

Go with them, young fella.

You'll do well in life.

And the ratio doesn't change. 36%.

You think the "recruiting lists" are so much more advanced today?

Believe it as you wish.

I don't think it, I know it. Just look at facts. In 2001 like 30% of 5 stars made NFL rosters. Now it is over 90%. That says it all, but nah lets just keep recruiting like its the 20th century.

This is clearly the biggest factor and the main reason we missed on many blue chippers.
I'd also add as a secondary factor the tremendous attrition that took place between 2009 and 2014. We had several classes (2010 and 2012 come to mind) where a third of the class was already gone 12 months later. That destroyed depth in many cases, and it hampered leadership.

Facts

They believe in developing 5 stars....maybe i need to try out and get developed i run at 8.9 10 so hopefully they can improve my stock and i can be a first rounder.

LMFAO!!! Facts. They act like development is the most important. Really recruiting is close to 75% of it. Look at the great developers and Xs and Os coaches like Chryst. They never make the playoffs. Then you have Saban who isn't great at developing or Xs and Os and just out recruits everyone.

The proofs there people just refuse to look at it and they use the 99-03 as an excuse or example but Butch did recruit studs just the rankings were more inaccurate and his rankings were right.
