Blue Chip Ratio - Death

That's precisely my pt!! LMAO. Both Bear Bryant & Saban are/were coaching savants, and in Saban's case he is arguably a top 10 coach in the history of American sports. To say that they were only elite because they were able to secure a "ton of talent" is completely discrediting/undervaluing the greatness of their coaching. The way it typically works is..a coach 1st has to prove that he possesses the ability to properly evaluate/assess & develop talent that is NOT HIGHLY RECRUITED, before he is able to attain talent that is. Which again for the millionth time proves WHY it doesn't make sense to talk about Manny's recruiting at this stage regardless of whether he's a good or bad recruiter, because he still has to prove whether he can effectively evaluate/assess & develop talent.

Also..I find it odd how you can give the Pastor credit for his 17' recruiting class, while simultaneously criticize Manny for his recruiting failures during the same yr. Similarly you also contradict yourself when you say that we had a top defense, when you have repeatedly said that Manny's defenses have been overrated during his time @ MIA. So it appears to me that you routinely change your criticism of Manny based on how conveniently it fits your narrative. Furthermore..in 17' we ended the season with 3 straight losses. Also your pt of FSU & UF having down yrs is irrelevant, because the recruits that we failed to close on that yr didn't sign with either of those schools. They signed with schools that played in the National Championship game-UGA & Alabama.

That is not what you are saying. You are saying the blue chip ratio doesn't matter. Otherwise you would agree that Manny sucks. I never said they where ONLY elite because of that. I am saying that is 75% of it.

It does make sense. You don't need to land classes full of 3 stars to prove yourself.

How is it odd? Look at that class 10 of the 14 blue chippers where offensive guys and the 2 highest defensive guys where Nesta and Blades who where about as easy to recruit to Miami as it comes. Its not contradicting. The defense was top rated, but obviously overrated because we only played scrubs. However, all over TV you saw "Miami top 5 defense, Miami Turnover Chain, etc). Even though the defense wasn't great it still should have been used to land more recruits. Unless, maybe the recruits are smarter than your average porster and saw through Mannys ********* defense.

Except, when we are down FSU and UF capitalize on Florida recruits, but Manny can't do the same.

Folks should try to wrap their mind around the fact that the ‘blue chip ratio’ is a useful rule of thumb, but ultimately a rough metric that isn’t always meaningful And doesn’t tell a full story. Especially because the version people are discussing is based on signees, not roster talent. There’s many a slip betwixt a cup and a lip, as they say.
