OP....it's funny that you mentioned that, b/c he made that statement after WQAM reported that he could be fired. He also stated that the BOT meeting wasn't about football although every other source says it was included. When there's smoke, Al might just get fired.
 
OK. Is there a difference between an official meeting of the BOT, and a possible meeting of powerful BOT members?

Like a "Coaching Committee," or whatever it's called, who do preliminary work and make recommendations to the full board?

Teams don't even get pumped beating Miami any more. They make fun of the U as the blow Al's boys off the field.

Maybe it's for the best though. Who would want this guy to pick a new coach. Everything will be washed away soon, starting with Donna's retirement.
 
The AD position at UM (under Donna) is a PR/fund raising gig, nothing more. Blake James knows his role. Look at Shawn Eichorst. He took the gig and quickly learned how limited it was and bailed. You'll notice that he was the guy who fired Pellini at Nebraska.

It's become pretty apparent that Eichorst found out what we're now finding out.

If the puppet is now admitting that Golden is under the hot seat officially - then what happens if we lose the bowl game. Remember - season isn't over yet. That would be an absolute implosion if we end up with a losing record this season.

Usually a formal board meeting requires an agenda and notice. If they have a committee, the rules would be relaxed I would assume. Also Flake James can say no board of trustees meeting.
They could probably have done an emergency meeting via conference call and vote to fire Golden.
Or maybe the committee has full control over firing
The committee could be a hiring committee

Believe this. The statement was cover. Not a vote of confidence. He put no date on how long Golden would continue to be the coach.

Blake James doesn't know ****. He'll find out if Golden is fired at the same time as the rest of us. Most powerless AD in DIV-1 sports.

That's a interesting way to look at it. Maybe we take 1 more year of this and then it's greener pastures from the top down. Wouldn't that be worth it?
