Problem is, anybody would do a better job. We keep throwing out names. But who do we have at the BOT or AD level that has both the competency and the stones to make the right decision? And will we pay the bucks required? Right now my sense is that there is one person out there who could walk in tommorow and take over and that is Butch. He may not be the right guy overall (age, baggage, etc.). If it's not going to be right now, which I define as within the next 2 games, and it turns out to be at the end of the season, then all the others can be looked at, but with a questionable level of competence, my guess is they will employ a consultant expert of some type. My preferenc would be to pick the low hanging fruit off the tree now, which is Butch. Keep the contract pliable and relatively short. Thats probanly the best we can do at this point.

Fuente has only shown excellence against other teams in the American Athletic Conference - 2 year body of work.

Strong only showed excellence for two years in the AAC, and when he moved up to the Big 12, fell flat on his ***. Surprise. Surprise.

Chad Morris right now is something like 1-4 at SMU.

Philip Montgomery is like 2-2 in the American conference. WTF?

Jeremy Pruitt got lucky ONE year at Alabama, and we just saw his defense against Alabama as he was DC for Georgia.

Mark Stoops is currently like 4-1, and doesn't yet have any body of work as a Head Coach.


I'm just not feeling these newbies.

Personally I don't want a defensive HC, so Pruitt and Stoops are out for me.

The reason I still like Stoops is he isn't conservative offensively, both OCs he hired come from the uptempo spread background. You get the uptempo offense and a guy who took the FSU D for 100+ to 2nd in 3 years. Although Pruitt somehow gets the credit for that around here.

Neal Brown (now the coach at Troy) was the OC at Troy and Texas Tech.
Shannon Dawson was the OC at West Virginia.

Only thing that freaked me out was that he allegedly went after James Coley for OC.
