Blake baker presser

I was kind of surprised yet refreshed he said he has mad bad play calls and needs to fix it. I think he’s a little to green to be our DC but compared to richt on offense and golden/coach D. His humility was breath of fresh air

Agreed. It’s still **** him but I’ll give him credit where it’s due.

yep its unfortunate it took two weeks for a UM coach to say that shytshow last Saturday was on them, i expected it to be the first words out of Manny's mouth in the post game press conf, kudos to Baker

Agree except it should have been Manny and Enos.... The D let up a FG in the 3rd and a TD in the 4th, QB less than 50% completion, no Tds and a pic, less than 40 yrds rushing, less than 250 yards total, 33% 3rd down conversion, 2 forced fumbles....

That sounds about right for playing Central Mich.

The offense however??? Yeeeshhhh

Agree
Did it take off? All the turnovers and how they played vs vt and nd masked the 2017 defense. Last year was by far thr best defense diaz ever had.
agree about 2018. Our 2017 got picked apart a few times. I think Willis was so disruptive in a way I think they are hoping nests is that guy

Good for him, but it doesn’t change anything. I’ll believe something is different when I see the same style defense Manny has been successful with here, make its return

Actually manny said in an interview the coaches have to take blame too.

Yeah, but what he should have said was along the lines of: "That was crap. I did a shoddy job and all of my coaches did a shoddy job. Respect to CMU, they came out prepared and gave us a good game, and I'm glad we got away with a win, but that was crap. Now, I gotta go get to work and make sure we never see this team look like that again as long as I am in charge. We're on to VT."

And walk away.

But whatever. As I said three or four weeks ago, I don't care what anyone says until further notice. We'll see what the scoreboard says at the end of each game and what the 2020 recruiting class looks like come Feb. Nothing else matters.

Gr8 post brother! I agree with you. Now TBH I was skeptical in him being hired to run our beloved Canes Defense in the first place he's too green to run a ripe veteran defense but i'm all about 2nd chances and opportunities in life. When he admitted that he should be more organize in schemes and personnel my shoulders got relaxed because he knows that it needs improvement. We are by far the youngest in staff in the ACC or in college football in itself and it shows. I feel like we are a blitz happy team and we got exposed alot . UF and UNC game cost us. I said it in the beginning of the year we need to layoff it a little on these late blitzes on 3rd down kinda got flaked a little which is all good, all love . It's a common theme if its 3rd and long Coach Manny likes to send and show late blitzes either from our corners or the strong side from the LB standpoint . You can tell Coach Baker doesn't fall to far from it's Apple Tree. He just need to call his own game. Our back line help is exposed and we don't have the eraser back there anymore. Plus no pressure from our dLine not like we used to. He has to adjust!

THIS IS WHY NESTA AND BUBBA IS SOO IMPORTANT MORE THAN WE REALIZE.

Go Canes!

Yeah, it was much improved. I'm not saying it was better than 2018, but it was far better than 2016.

To be fair, the defense is not the problem. The offense is. If anyone should be self-flagellating, it should be ****. Unfortunately, he's the one who found Richt's "Book of Obstinate Post-Game Pressers" in the team library.

The hope is, that the offense is complicated and takes time for the team to absorb and begin to perform at a higher and higher level over time. Unfortunately, even that best-case scenario still means that he's a rigid coach that puts his ego above the team and who is unwilling or incapable of tailoring the offense to suit the personnel available to him.

I hope it gets better, but I am already disappointed, given what we were sold.
