Bill O’Brien

Saban chose Culpepper over Drew Brees with the Dolphins. Take Saban off the list, DO NOT WANT.

Any coaching candidate is going to come with flaws, no denying that. O'Brien's biggest negative was when he was the coach/GM of a NFL team, which doesn't directly correlate to being a HC in the college ranks.

Is he my top choice? No, mostly because I think he'll jump ship to the NFL within 2-3 years but would be a huge upgrade here.
Unfortunately you could say that about all the names mentioned around here and a lot more.

Yea Saban has to be able to hand pick his players. O Brien is a good x and O guy but he won't be able to build an elite roster imo. If he were HC Saban will still walk into sfla and take who he wants. And when the elites come into sfla and take who they want it keeps us looking for a HC every three years. Until we find a guy that can stop that we will still be bottom feeders. I don't think he would be able to stop the leak. My opinion of UM is control sfla and u win again. Until that we r fuqed.
Yea maybe but again highlighting a guy's NFL personnel moves and trying to equate that to how he'd recruit at the college level is pointless. And that's what you tried to do. O'Brien might be a sh*t recruiter at the college level but you can't gauge that from trading Hopkins.

pretty much everyone passed up rodgers in the draft. he also wanted to play for fsu but never got an offer.

A rodge was a juco kid right?

also, Dante came off a blown knee while the docs in Miami told Saban Brees shoulder was done. in the end it worked out bc Saban wasn't gonna last as an NFL coach. now, the fins ******** it up every year after that gift is another story

Think Saban wanted Breese over Cul I heard that from posters here........O Brien needs talent everyone HC does at UM. UM is a recruiter based school IMO, when they were at their best it wasn't x and o's although we were good at it, it was always talent overall and thats proved by NFL production when our guys went there.
Revisionist history from Saban.

LOL this is along the same lines of the earlier post that said 'Brees wasn't a potential HoFer at the time'.

No ****, Sherlock. That's why you get paid millions of dollars as a HC - to evaluate and develop talent. Passing over two HoF QBs can never been swung as anything other than a negative.
