Bill O’Brien

Saban choose Culpepper over Brees for health reasons. Even he admits, in hindsight, it was the wrong decision, and he might have stayed at the Fins and never left for Bama (his own words). A lot of teams passed on Brees, he was a FA IIRC.

O‘Brien would be an upgrade, but I’d pass because the Canes would likely looking for an new HC in 2-3 seasons.
Yeah, sure would be nice revisiting the old days when Miami coaches were hot commodities and running off to greener pastures.

I’m of the opinion that Saban is already creating some sort of robot body to accept his brain upon death, so he can continue on coaching to infinity & beyond, ala Richard Nixon being President on Futurama @Hogan
Nick Saban trying to find that loophole in his contract with Satan lol

Kill that..you don’t build what Saban has..and had at LSU..LSU to this day was still dependent on the structure Saban built there. He’s probably the most organized Coach other than a select few in the NFL

I was talking about His time in the NFL, where Saban was a corRch. He's a good disciplinarian for 18 Y/O's, but that $h!t gets no play in the NFL.

I agree. But those Defenses were still stingy. What he didn’t have is a QB. And that makes a huge difference. Because if your winning the guys in the locker room are quicker to follow. You can’t be coach Drill Sargent with Ls in the column. See NE

I think we underestimate how stupid some NFL organizations are. LCE mentioned Raiders and I think that's honestly not a bad fit but O'Brien rubs a lot of people the wrong way and considering the whole Gruden thing...idk.

Teams potentially looking for HC next year: Raiders, Bears, Broncos, Jags, Lions.....maaaaaaybe Dolphins, Eagles, Giants.
Teams potentially looking for OC next year: All of the above + Steelers, Seahawks, Falcons, and others?

That's a lot of potential fits for O'Brien. Some with young QBs that are similar to Watson (Fields, Lawrence, Tua, Hurts). I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the NFL next year.
I agree. I just put myself in bills situation.. I wouldn’t go Coordinating unless I have a sure fire stud. I don’t think the names u HL are that..and Trevor isn’t gonna have a new OC year 2. He’s played pretty well

Culpepper had health concerns, too. And Saban passed on Aaron Rodgers in the 05' draft.

Dabo would get 1st dibs if the Bama job opened up. Heck that may be why Dabo seems distracted this year
I think someone said there is some sort of poison pill in his contract he leaves to Bama.
However, I think Dabo has proven he isn’t saban.

It wasn't just Brees. He made a lot of personnel decisions in Miami that were questionable at best. And his success at the college level proves my point. The 2 aren't comparable.
Yea Saban has to be able to hand pick his players. O Brien is a good x and O guy but he won't be able to build an elite roster imo. If he were HC Saban will still walk into sfla and take who he wants. And when the elites come into sfla and take who they want it keeps us looking for a HC every three years. Until we find a guy that can stop that we will still be bottom feeders. I don't think he would be able to stop the leak. My opinion of UM is control sfla and u win again. Until that we r fuqed.

I don't know, but has anyone - outside of the Canes, Browns, and Phins organizations - had a worse run of decisions? This dude's time in Houston was a nightmare. On multiple levels. Ask their fans.

houston is a dud franchise because of ownership more than anything. not that bob did himself any favors because he's a meh coach and a horrendous gm, but belichick couldn't turn that team around unless they got new owners.

Hiring him as coach and elevating him to GM may just be more examples of their poor organization. He was *really* bad. No idea how he'd do elsewhere, but that's a bunch of negative evidence against him.

oh absolutely. they've been trying to turn themselves into pats south for the last decade by hiring old new england guys everywhere. as for bob, he did alright at penn state but i'm certainly not sold on him based on his bull-headedness alone. dude acts like he's accomplished something on his own.
