Big Ten Football

If there's no football in the fall and it goes to the spring, that means there's no way in **** Lawrence and co. play. We would only lose maybe Roche, maybe Brevin; King has way more to prove so he'll stay.
I would think king still plays bc he could’ve left before transferring. Brevin maybe plays bc he’s prolly gone after a fall or spring season anyways. Roche prolly sits since an injury would hurt him

All I can say is if I had a son that was playing college football now, I would want him to play, especially if he was in a P5 program. I know the coaches and administration would do the best they could to try to keep them in a bubble. But like I said in a prior post, if you’re really worried about their safety, why on earth would you just leave them to their own devices which is essentially what would happen if there is no season.
Again, no disagreement. The problem is they’re not in that bubble like the NBA, these kids just have a “sanitized” haven away from the world they’ll be coming in contact with regularly.

I want to say I’d let my son play under these circumstances, but … when I read about some of these long term issues with previously healthy young people/athletes, I have to question if I know enough to honestly make that choice.

Gene Smith is a scientist?
Maybe Fauci Had a conference call with the Big Ten athletic directors. First decision of today’s meeting suspend contact practices until further notice the dominoes are starting to fall

An imperfect bubble is better than none.

Don’t know what I can say to reassure you about the long-term consequences in young people, but right now they’re not seeing anything in young people that would be different than has previously been described in the medical literature from other viral infections. there is always the possibility of long-term consequences in any viral infection. Or bacterial infections, including meningitis and death.

And I don’t wanna start a whole scientific discussion here is I’m just not up for it this afternoon, but deaths in that age group are at a rate that are at worst equal to a typical influenza season (just in that age group). Maybe less. And yes it’s a whole different ball of wax as people get older, it’s just a different disease.

Ring the bell
Throw in the towel! Raise the white flag!

I was optimistic about playing but postponing the season until spring might be the best option. However, the product will be diluted and the NCAA would need to make exceptions so teams could improve their rosters.

What a mess!

those are professional leagues where players want paychecks. College kids aren’t paid. They will sit out the free league to protect themselves for the fall NFL season where they make money
There's more bubble players than surefire 1st & 2nd round picks. I say the NFL should have a 2 part draft...have the 1st 2 rounds when they normally have em', and the last 5 rounds at a later date.

Man don’t underestimate that pied piper Dabo. He’ll somehow convince Lawrence to play in the championship game even if the draft was in four days.

Thing is, that's what almost everyone has done. Not alot of good examples of anyone in power being proactive during this whole thing.
This is what ****es me off. Have been a broken record saying for months that planning, with regular updates, should have been going on throughout. That way, as the season approaches, adjustments get easier. It's painfully obvious the powers that be have done nothing.

They do this as all the numbers are dropping. Come October they may end up looking like fools. They could learn a lesson from MLB and the NFL when they had their strike seasons. The difference is CFB can be replaced even easier than the other two.

Everyone just "assumed" **** would get better. No one seriously planned that beginning to reopen might reverse the progress made.
