Ohio State has adjusted their plan for the 2020 season today.IF there is football the home games will be limited to 20k fans maximum with a possibility of no fans. This is less than 20% capacity. Last week OSU home games were at 40k AND 6k students. Football is a 120 million dollar payday for them and right now it looks like it’s going the wrong way. When the premier teams in the country start looking at these types of alternatives, I think it’s time for concern. The Power 5s run college football and Ohio State is the Big 10.
I started the above thread 2 weeks ago and the experts here laughed. Talk to me at the end of the day! Gene Smith carries a lot of weight in the conference.

For the first time I’m starting to feel the season will actually be cancelled. Absolutely insane. Kids are now going from being monitored and tested to parting and whatever the want all fall. There is no additional risk with playing a sport. The risk is out in the real world everyday. Spring season won’t work. No senior or draft eligible player expecting to play in the NFL will play in the spring. Can’t risk injury and two season back to back like that.

That’s definitely Rutgers and Northwestern, and they have no pull. The big boys won’t let it happen.

All it shows is that the Big Ten and maybe CFB in general was hoping and not planning. Barry Alvarez in an article yesterday said there were still too many unanswered questions about protocols so Wisconsin pushed back practice to Monday. What has the Big Ten been doing all offseason? They had plenty of time to develop a plan and inform their institutions instead of just hoping the virus would go away or calm down. Showcases a lack of leadership

Thing is, that's what almost everyone has done. Not alot of good examples of anyone in power being proactive during this whole thing.

I wonder if the SEC and ACC will have football if another Power 5 cancels football. I guess you can still have conference championships and can still play the majority of your full season because it's conference games.

Well said. They are just kicking the can down the road. This has been coming for months. They are going to release a schedule then delay practice a few days later? Nonsense. They should just come out and say they are scared and they want to see how the other conferences that have already started do before they jump in.

It’s weak but the lack of good overall leadership is really hurting college ball right now.

There is news that at least 3 firms talking that the first vaccines could be available by late Oct or early Nov.

Maybe the season could be moved to very late in Fall or early Spring

Apparently the ACC will be the test case with the Big 10 being half in and half out. SEC is starting later and so is the PAC 12 and the Big 12 hasn't released a start date for the season. If the ACC can get through a couple weeks without it being a ****show specifically in a state like Florida other conferences will probably jump in

I think we see a season at some point but the further you get down the line the more likely more top players sit out

Why not, the NHL & NBA have short off-seasons. Besides, this would be a one-off type of deal, I hope.

those are professional leagues where players want paychecks. College kids aren’t paid. They will sit out the free league to protect themselves for the fall NFL season where they make money

Yep and all of the power 5s are in the same boat. Believe science, not fiction. Science and Father Time are undefeated and science will Trump college football.

Let’s hope they can do it. From what I can see, Manny and the Miami folks seem to have a comprehensive and well thought out plan for creating as much of a bubble as possible.

Even IF these vaccines work (likely, IMO) and IF the earliest doses are ready by October/November (unlikely, IMO), there is 0.0% chance that healthy young college football players will get those first few precious doses. There would be a national outcry, quite rightly. A vaccine is not gonna save the 2020 season, IMO.
