Big O today

I'm not listening to that garbage even if he might be right. Richts stubbornness is going to get him in trouble. Maybe not with the school but he will lose the lockeroom and then or maybe even before, he will lose the fan base.

I am tired of hearing about South Florida competition and how it makes kids ready for college football. Big O is right, we don't have the horses. Our best player might be Jeff Thomas and he isn't from the state.
 
S fla kids have forgotten this .you go out and earn your stripes no one gives it to you.need to quit feeling like your entitled.

I said the same thing in the Gameday thread.. Our only players that showed up and played with a chip on their shoulder were -

Jeff Thomas - from East St. Louis
Gerald Willis - from New Orleans
Deejay Dallas - From Georgia
Brian Hightower - From Cali originally

SoFla was no where to be found except on the otherside with John Battle throwing up the 305 in our face

he has a point. our best OL talent is a soph and 3 fresh. Our best defensive talent is basically all young.
our lb's are overrated and our best db talent is very young.

Eh. There is nothing wrong with So Fla football. Our problem is the best local kids are going elsewhere.

Agree for the most part, but you're assuming all our recent 4* recruits will pan out. Inevitably a few won't. **** Amari Carter cant beat out Knowles.

Our best defensive players are probably willis and m. Jackson.

When you think your best players are all unproven youngsters, it’s often because you still imagine them to be somthing they arent all that likely to become.

Case in point our frosh OL. St. Louis was as highly rated coming out of Hs as Campbell and Reed. And he’s had a good career. Neither Campbell nor Reed has done nothing to earn praise as more talented.

well i think st louis is good but he is gone. im kind of thinking more 19

Impossible. FL 3 star = 4 stars and FL 4 star = 6 stars.

This is why I continue to say get some footing in Texas and Louisiana. Lets be honest after that we aren't getting any LA kids. We could barely get LA kids before this game now we can't even show our face there honestly.

Not sure what your point really is. Our best defensive players are not young. We hope our youngsters will be better than the guys we got because all fan bases hope that. Our best players are mostly upper classmen. As they should be.

We have some promising young players, but richt has under recruited defense and OL and given out too few scholarships overall, and it is costing us and will continue to cost us.

he hasnt underrecruited ol. its waiting on development.

im definately agree on defense.

How about we actually try to sign the best local kids? Because we’re not going to magically discover we’re better at evaluating 3* kids from Texas than we are local kids. Don’t confuse the evidence of fan stupidity and hype for logic here. Recruiting is identification, evals and selling. You are going to identify and eval local kids better. And if you cant sell local kids, rather than giving up, maybe we should get better at selling.

Folks blame local kids for going elsewhere. Meanwhile, we have a staff half full of guys with little to no prior major college coaching experience. And no effin OC. We don’t need to recruit the rest of the world more. We need a coach who focuses on recruiting and doing his job more.

the best players for miami last night were from out of state, hightower, thomas and willis

He absolutely has underrecruited OL. And there’s no credit owed for signing kids who can’t play here. He took none his first year (one if you count tre johnson, who was listed as a DE on rivals, and who wasnt good). That right there was a huge mistake. Then he took dykstra, hillery, and herbert along with donaldson and gaynor his second year. Heavy on numbers, not so heavy on game ready kids. Then only 3 last cycle when we needed more. And now only 2 commitments so far for 19. Not enough of a focus or a priority. And DL has been worse!
 
We would have had a few more players appear to "show up" last night if we had a qb capable of getting it anywhere close to their catch radius with any consistency. Rosier's inaccuracy and inability to use the whole field in the passing game restricts the offense, kills drives, tires the defense, stifles momentum, drains confidence and wastes talent. Kid's play is so bad I honestly believe it affects almost every facet of the team.

I didn't see a lack of talent last night. I saw a maddening inability to use it to it's full potential by both our qb and our coaching staff..
