Recruiting and landscape of ncaaf was way different 20 years ago. If a player had 1 decommit he was a red flag guy. Social media has changed everything forever. Cant compare 2 decades of football in between.

I know you guys love Butch and think he is the answer but im telling you guys he could not handle this job and is in no way an option for an answer. This isnt a knock on Butch but i doubt he could handle any Power 5 job right now. He's so far distanced from the game i dont think he has the thrive to get back in it nor the ability at his age. And before you give me the Kst Snyder age. Snyder would literally have a heart attact trying to start over and run a big program, let alone the divas and issues you deal with recruiting in S. Fla. He has a comfort zone and recruits overachievers and has no expectations year in year out in the state of Kansas. 0.0% chance Butch ever coaches here. For many reasons. Its a well known fact. Anybody close the program or Butch will tell you the same.

I agree the recruiting landscape has changed but that has ZERO to do with Butch's resume of stacking and developing 1st round talent. It also doesn't change the fact that all these south Florida kids and coaches know it and will send/go to him.

Strongly disagree. Saban is supposed to be one of the top defensive minds in the game and I wouldn't even think of taking him before Davis. And he's not that old. He looks quite fit, too. He's probably in better physical condition than Golden who's a fair amount younger.

Davis is still a difference maker - although it'd be nice to see him on staff to actually prove this assertion....

Yes, I'd take Butch over Nick Saban as the head coach. And I'd certainly take Davis's defense over a Saban defense. Both are strong, but someone has to be better on the defense side and I would take Butch.

And yes, I've seen Saban from MSU (Michigan St.), LSU, Dolphins and now at Alabama. He's quite good. But I believe Davis would beat him head-to-head more often, have a tougher team and put more players in the league - like he did in the past. He's also better at identifying talent.
