Big Baby to the portal

I thought he would be an overachiever relative to his physical traits, given his dominance in high school. So I admit, I was a fan of his. beggars can’t be choosers, and our OL was so horrifically bad for the past decade since golden left, that he was an upgrade relative to the likes of Dykstra and, EL Gamal.

We’re in a different place now, thank the gods. Good luck to the young man. Hope he has a great life.

This is a good sign.

At some points last season, we needed him. Now, we likely have at least a few guys ahead of him.

Good luck to the kid.
This is a good post.

We NEEDED Big Baby to be the Big Baby so many (me included) projected him to be and just...nothin.

Sucks.

Yeah, got a little run last year and came back this year to a new reality. Only concern is that this kid is from a local D-1 feeder school. Hopefully an amicable parting.

size limitations that never played center.

Great camp guy and likely still really solid ion one on ones. I know most guys dont play center in high school and their high school plays them at the need..but Miami Central once he committed should have been advised to play him there throughout instead of tackle.

He would be best to head to a G5..subsequently a place like GA STATE, TROY, APP STATE or even if Brandon Washington could get him to BC-U where he can play right away.

Moreover… this generation is “right now” oriented. While that’s great in a lot of ways they also are impatient and the idea of “waiting” or putting in work over time for a “greater later” is essentially non-existent.

They are raised on social media. Are seeing their contemporaries achieve success at a rapid pace some with no real talent. I don’t think we’ll see a quality player wait 2- 3 years to be a starter here again. That’s over.

A upperclassman losing reps to a freshman? He’s packing his bags. It’s the new normal.

The portal giveth and the portal taketh.
Are you sure this is a right now thing or could it be a go? Now thing you’re making assumption that it’s kid oriented as opposed to Coach directed. I have no idea obviously.

Yup another bad eval by prior staff. Ranking was way too high. Short, short arms. His only shot was at center.

My struggle to land on a G5 team
Buddy's got trex arms and no punch. He's not gonna play interior and now he sees what our model lineman looks like. Buddy knows he's got no future on this team. His best chance is gets his strength numbers significantly up and try to play gaurd at a lower tier school. He's a good kid and it's not personal. But like everyone wants to see, Mario is serious about building this team the right way. His way. Getting rid of these scholarships is what's necessary. Is what it is. @gogeta4 you're absolutely right from a physical stand point he should be playing center. However from the few times I've spoken with him, I just think mentally that's not in the cards. I'd say he's got a long road ahead of him.

This is one of the hard parts of being a coach. Unfortunately, you have to move along kids and some are good kids who did nothing wrong but they’re limited and wouldn’t have been recruited here by the current staff.
