This may get moved to the recruitment forum, but anyway thoughts on this? Forget that it’s newberg. Would you rather the big 3 lock up the state of Florida and just recruit hard against each other?? For that to happen all 3 programs would have to get their 💩 together and all be ranked.. or would you rather UF and FSU continue to be dumpster fires and try to recruit against big boys Clemson, UGA and Bama, all 3 cherry pick whomever they want down here?

I don’t give a fck about FSU or UF, but some of our greatest games was due to in state battles that carried over from Pop Warner. It’s a crying shame that the state of Florida is filled w these chucking and jiving jits.
That’s what I’m saying bruh, no sense of pride for your home state. Bunch of Bama, Clemson, OSU & UGA groupies.

Truth to that. Manny and them boys will have to be fighting bag schools heavy from now on. I feel like it’d be easier to recruit local talent, if the big 3 locked up Florida with the exception of kids who clearly chase bags

Once we become good again it will be a lot easier to have guys stay home competing against schools in different states than a school like UF.

It's the truest post Newburg ever made. His post is also the reason the staff is doing the right thing with all the OOS offers. Until we can consistently land the top guys in our back yard we have to be open to kids from everywhere.

Bags

This will never change its too late.
Ofc there will always be kids who chase bags, there have always been kids who chased “extra incentives” outside of football. However not everyone who spurned us were simply “chasing bags” we were bad under Shannon, mediocre under Golden, and boring under Richt. You know how many local jits that wanted to play football for this university leave and be great some where else because they were advised to, because our program wasn’t stable? Either win games or drop bags that’s how you can patch up recruiting, we’re in the business of doing the first.

Think with Manolo at the helm we can stave some of the tide but won’t be able to stop all of the pilfering from our neck of the woods. Winning obviously helps tremendously - kids these days have 0 loyalty to any program and only care about those who compete for championships, or they chase bags. Since we aren’t in the business of dropping off trunk loads of Bennies, we’re locked into the task of winning ships of which I’m perfectly happy having us do. And I don’t mean Coastal titles although clearly we have to get our ducks in a row there and consistently win that so we can procure better and brighter hardware.

Yes. The real question is why Florida and FSU can’t do it right.

Alabama would never let it’s neighbors cuckold it this badly in its own back yard.
Bama has one competitor in state..and even then it’s a monopoly that state..them kids go to bama factories or auburn factories in Hs..and if they are elite, they staying in state..nobody dares to really try and put resources in recruiting that state..here on the other hand, it’s a full on open enterprise. There’s so much talent up and down 95 in this state it’s truly a hotbed..biggest bag or whoever is hot has the biggest influence..no school will ever lock down this state or a fertile area. It’s more important we get the right kids and develop the **** outta them

There is no doubt that our recruiting has taken a big hit because the football product we have put on the field has been so bad for so long. Kids in South Florida these days have no association whatsoever with Miami being a great football team other than tales their dads and uncles tell them. Sad, but 100% true. When we start winning again, we will start landing a lot of big time South Florida recruits again. You saw a flash of that coming off the 2017 season.

Having said that, the era of us ever locking down The State of Miami like we once did is over. Recruiting is a completely different animal than it was 20 or 30 years ago. That's just reality.

I'm okay with a situation where Miam's up at Clemson and Bama's level and fighting them for recruits while FSU and UF are off in a distant living in mediocrity.

FSU is in serious trouble.

If we beat UF this year, we have a huge opportunity.

Bama, Clemson, Georgia etc. can get theirs. If Manny can start winning 2-3 more of those FSU/Miami or UF/Miami battles for top players each year that we've been losing the last 10-15 years, we'll be in good shape.

If we have a good season, combined with the optimism and attitude TNM has generated, we'll start recruiting better.
