Big 12 bringing back title game despite having only 10 teams

The NCAA gave them permission to do this. They'll have 2 5 team divisions. Big 12 title game in 2017, but unclear if still 10 teams then | Deseret News

Their only expansion options are patsies like Colorado State, UCF, Conncinatti or Temple that have no business being in a BCS conference. So I think they're better off staying at 10.

Remember spring of 2012 when WVU trolls convinced about 85% of FSU and Clemson fans that they needed to join the Big 12? That was the all time height of Nole fan moronicness. I still can't believe that even FSU fans were as moronic as they were for about 2 months there.

I remember that. I had FSU fans telling me they have to get out of this sucky conference but at that time they couldn't even win the conference.

Once they finally started being dominant in the ACC they stopped wanting to leave. Basically they were unhappy that their conference mates weren't purposely losing to them. Wake Forest had won 4 out of 6 games vs FSU around that time.

Even FSU's BOT chairman fell under the trance of the WVU internet trolls and said that the ACC was awful and the Noles needed to leave it. Although IIRC their BOT chairman was fired shortly afterword for making that comment.

USF fans are delusional as well. They think they are worthy of being a P5 team and still think of themselves as the "big 4" in the state.
 
Conference membership stopped being about competition (to a degree) several years ago.

The driving factor (some would say the sole factor) for the next few rounds of expansion/consolidation is "what does this new team.bring in terms on short and long term revenue?"

Its all about fiscal sustainability (and growth if possible).

I can't imagine that UCF or CSU would bring in any revenue to the Big 12 though. They have almost no following in their markets. And their markets (Orlando and Colorado) aren't even that big to begin with.

Size of TV market alone might make teams like UCF and USF. Throw in recruiting exposure and those schools could get consideration. Geo location might not work for Big 12, but those are two big state schools and the pool of good football schools is dry.
 
Remind me as to why they needed NCAA permission to do this again? I'm guessing any answer regarding "fairness" could be solved by a freaking 8 team Playoff too.

The Big 10 never could get permission to have a CCG with 11 teams. The ACC couldn't either. The ACC was at 11 teams for a year or 2 after originally rejecting Boston College.

Now they're allowing CCGS with one less team.

Houston and Cincy should be their first choices.
