I knew he was going to struggle. But not this bad. Their Oline is hot doodoo though! That’s why I was shocked when he chose Oklahomo over Us! No weapons and no line there. Wasn’t expecting him to be all that there.

Mateer sucks post the injury- he was heading to New York for the Heisman stage before he got hurt


Hard to tell where he will be next year with all the full recovery time

Was he really that great the first 4 games? 6. tds and 3 ints. Two of those games were against Ilinois St and Temple.

Over a full year thats 18 / 9. Definitely not New York type numbers.

You’re ignoring his run game though he’s dual threat
 
The injury cooked him this year. Also, OU's skill guys are way overrated and they ain't trotting Creed Humphrey, Anton Harrison, Cody Ford, Bobby Evans, Dru Samia, Ben Powers, Zeus Brown out there either. We have much better infrastructure for a quarterback.

If Mateer played here and didn't end up with 3 screws in his thumb, we'd be 2 games better, but our guy might be better equipped for the playoffs because he's red hot right now and his elbow is feeling good at just the right time.
 
Hindsight is always 20/20, but I’ve watched him a bunch this year and he’s just not a very good passer. It also seems like he just doesn’t see the field well at all, and makes risky/dumb decisions. Like last night, for instance, they have the ball inside their own 10, late in the game, and this dude sidearms a throw and hits the Bama player right in his face mask. I’m like, “Bro, WTF are you doing?” It’s one thing to make that throw in week 3 against Southwest Lower Eastside Community College, but this is the playoffs my man. He made a ton of really risky throws last night like that.

If Beck has a bad game I’m coming right back to this thread and requesting a permaban on OP.
