Best, worst college football coaches in close games from each conference - CBSSports.com

Best: Jimbo Fisher, Florida State (8-4, .667). Fisher wrote the book last season on how to win close games, going 7-0 in one-possession contests. That's an absurdly high single-season rate. With Jameis Winston now gone, there's nowhere to go but down for Fisher in close games. Still, Fisher has won 10 straight one-possession games, with the last loss coming against North Carolina State in 2012.

Worst: Al Golden, Miami (11-12, .478). To be fair, Golden's mediocre success rate in close games can be partially attributed to starting his career at Temple and inheriting NCAA sanctions at Miami. Will more scholarship depth help Miami win tight games, or is this who Golden is as a coach?

:hopelessness:

More scholarship depth? We've been roughly playing with the same amount of players since the "cloud" came about it. Some of the cloud years probably had more scholarship guys than last year. So no, more 'scholarship depth' won't help us win tight games.

I have never seen a coach be so mediocre yet always receives an excuse for sucking . Is it possible he just sucks?

3rd and 1 our dbs are 10-15 yards deep or back of end zone . golden coaches scared and deserves being a loser of a coach

It's really amazing how many clueless media members continue to make excuses for Golden, despite years of visual evidence and countless statistics confirming he's a disgrace of a head coach.

Ohio State and USC laugh at any talk of slap-on-the-wrist sanctions hurting Golden at Miami.

jimbo got a huge boost from jamies before that he was losing to nc state, wake, & va

The title of that could just be changed to "Best, Worst college football coaches from each conference" and the ACC best and worst would remain the same.

Al is 1-3 against UVA. Mike London has more than 1 career win versus three teams : Richmond, VMI, and MIAMI.

Results are hard to hide from although Golden has done a tremendous job up until now.

This season will be his Waterloo.

Love how the media is exposing his ****....Gonna make it hard for UM to retain this ****** after this season, though they probably will unfortunately.
