We learned in '19 that there is no such thing as a gimme game..

But starting this season against FAR less talent -- Temple, Wagner, UAB -- will give us a chance to work out a lot of kinks and install the new offense more smoothly without necessarily taking a loss..

Not saying we should take any of these games for granted -- well, maybe Wagner -- but we'll have more wiggle room to experiment, find the right lineups and clean up mistakes.

The OP's point is correct. Having some very light games to start with is just what the doctor ordered for this team and it's new O system. Once we're a consistent top 10 team, I'm all for going back to scheduling powerhouses in the beginning, but for the moment, I'm all for a cupcake schedule until we thicken back up.

Temple will come in with a chip. Still a much better way to start than the gayters in Primetime. And all those scrub teams come to play Miami like its a championship game. I like our odds in the first 3 games with King leading the way.

The chances of us worried about Temple and UAB at anytime is staggering considering where this program once was. It was glorious.

I remember mauling Temple back in the early 2000s. There were 5k in the stands in Philly. Temples tag line for the game was ‘Watch us play the number one team in the country!’
what happened!!!

The pantry has been very light on the survival goods for the past 17 years. We will see on the upcoming 4 games. Hopefully, we will be 4 - 0 . Anything else would be unacceptable.

Our recent teams seem to take unranked opponents for granted, hope that changes for 2020. Look at who we beat or played close versus our ridiculous losses.

I know man. But Miami is a middle of the road ACC team until proven differently. This is program is Duke, UNC, UVA, VT, GT, NCST, Wake Forest style program.

If we were in a different conference we’d be no better than

Maryland/Indiana in the B1G.
ASU in the PAC-12
Texas Tech in the B12.
Tennessee in the SEC.

This is the level of program we are at right now. Until we perform like something else I ain’t lumping or comparing us with contenders.

we have the first three games against teams slightly worse than us on paper.

then we play a team who is pretty much equal to us in Michigan State.

How we play against the teams that we are most similar to this year should show us what’s up.

we aren’t head and shoulders better than any team on the schedule minus Wagner. They are pretty much where we are as a program so that’s the good News.

There's a difference between not worrying about a team and being complacent. You just never know when a team is going to try to catch you napping.

There's no such thing as a gimme game with our administration and football staff ....that's about all last season proved.
