Best Team vs Most Deserving

My question for everyone is where you see best vs most deserving. I struggle with this because the committee talks out of both sides of their mouth on this topic. Using whatever metric they want to get the teams in that they choose.

A. How is a team that looses a conference championship game in the discussion for best team, goal of a playoff is to get 1 champion that is the best. Instead when they loose the narrative is “they don’t DESERVE to be penalized for playing a conference championship”

B. Most Deserving is always explained away as “we think this team just looks better. The goal is to get the BEST teams in regardless of everything” but will still put a bubble team in the playoff coming off of a CC game loss.

I know Miami checks both boxes this year, and both arguments are keeping them out. Frustrating but such is the life of a Miami fan.

You need metrics, records, etc to get a preliminary ranking and then you tweak that based on the eye test, HEAD TO ******* HEAD RESULTS, etc.

Using the "best team" too heavily gets too subjective and is how the SEC schools get even more favoritism.
The “Eye Test” is only worth the value that the set of glasses you’re looking thru. It’s a metric that could not be more subjective. Case in point, I’m watching mcAfee’s show and they have the ND AD on. He repeated their mantra that they are the hottest team in the country. No GD stats to back that up, or what their competitors were, or pts for/against in games or against common opponents. It was a BS fest with this F**king Mook. And, no one challenged him. Just let him throw out their propaganda. If I understand it correctly, out of the 3metrics the committee uses we own 2 of them and are in a statistical tie on the third. Yet here we are in a foot race with Eye Test and their BS propaganda verses Reality. F**k them and McAfee. Go Canes🙌🏽

This. Once you get into “best team” discussions, it’s completely subjective. Have some sort of defined path that removes any sort of committee nonsense.

Also have to remember there is no perfect playoff setup. NFL has its own problems. There have been under .500 teams get in over 9/10 win teams before.

Eye Test = Game Control.

Eye test needs to make its way out the door and base this stuff on actual results.

Find a way to level out schedules so we can stop *****ing about SOS and make it record based like professional sports.

If the fools in that room think their “eye test” is the deciding factor in something metrically this close in nearly every category and enough to entirely overrule a head to head result and comparable games, they better show me their bet slip where they’re hitting 10 game parlays on a weekly basis. If you can’t, it tells me it doesn’t matter.

Eye test is literally the game control metric.

H2H has been the standard to settle disputes and challenges in almost every team sport since the beginning of competitive competitions and playoffs. But, these F**king Donkeys act like it’s an inconvenience, which obviously it is, to their agenda.”The game was played too early.. they’re playing better as the season goes on,.. their losses were better than Miami’s( WTF ever that means). It’s the given schedule, we played it both finished 10-2, we beat ur A**es H2H. STFU

The thing about the NFL, it's set up to not favor any particular division. One year you might have all average teams and get one team in that gets knocked out first round. The next year you might get a 14 win and 11 win team out of the same division. But both years the best team in the NFL made it in and won the Super Bowl. That's because they let teams make it off of merit and not a Deserving vs Best team debate in a conference room.

And when the team is the better team and also more deserving on nearly every real (non espn bs) metric then you leave them out. Right? Right?
