Best home crowds (post glory days)

Va Tech 2017 was packed and set the stage for an even crazier Notre Dame crowd
I went to both on back-to-back weekends and thus is the reason I still have tinnitus to this day.

There was a FSU game maybe 08? We lost but I remember we were down 24-0 maybe 24-3 with a last minute FG right before halftime but we started storming back and got within 34-32 with a few minutes left in the 4th quarter and a freaking monsoon opened up. Not a single fan left and the crowd was going insane. We ended up losing by like 2 or 3 but that crowd was pretty rowdy, but post glory days its 2017 ND. That one is still mentioned in memes and players still talk about it.
I was at that game. Was hammered and angry, so I left for Tootsies in the 3rd quarter.

Was at this one as well. My first UM/FSU game. Roof popped off that place with Spence's pick 6. Happened right in front of us. I was a drunk, water logged, ****ed off mess after that one....

September 20, 2007 in the Orange Bowl versus No.: 16 Texas A&M. Thursday Night Game. From our seats, we were able to sneak into 50 yard seats on the east side of the stadium. The OB was swaying. Canes won 34-17. I am glad I went to that game. It was like I walked through a wormhole into our past glory. Team went on to **** the bed - beating Duke at home the next week and then losing the next 3 home games - culminating with the 48-0 beatdown Virginia laid on us to close out the grand Ole Lady.

I think you have to look back at the glory days to have a good baseline for what the ceiling is. When I think about FSU in 2000, Washington in 2001, or Florida in 2003, the Notre Dame game in 2017 was identical to those atmospheres. Honestly, you could convince me that Washington in 2001 and Notre Dame in 2017 were the craziest environments I've ever been in for a Hurricane game. Fans just out for blood. I'm really hoping we bring the same energy in two weeks. When Miami is at the top chasing a national championship and there's a top 10 matchup at home you cannot convince me there's a crazier atmosphere in college football. And here's my hot take as to why:

Texas A&M fans go to cheer practice every Friday, no matter the opponent. The likes of Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, they sell out their games every Saturday. They fill the stadium with the same people every week, which is awesome. But. Miami's biggest knock, low attendance, can also become it's biggest strength every now and then. In the words of Nigel from Spinal Tap, "Most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up. Where can you go from there?" Miami can go to 11 and it feels very different for everyone involved when it does.
If we are in the way back machine, I put a plug in for 9/12/91. Houston v Miami. Big hype over the Houston QB. I think his name was Klingler. I remember seeing him waiting to come out of the tunnel. Canes fans leaning over the railing abusing him verbally. Security dragged one fan away. Place was insane. It wasn’t PC. It felt like everyone was drunk and out of control. I haven’t seen that kind of raw emotion in a long time. Maybe it was too destructive. But it is a great memory.

Yeah that one was fun as ****. I can’t remember if it was that one or another where it started raining in the 2nd right as we came back and the stadium went feral.
I want to say that rain game was against GT that year - one of the games Langham had a wild catch to keep a drive alive. I remember for some reason when it started to rain it just caused the crowd to become incensed, almost like there was some kind of T Virus in the rain water lmao.

That 2017 season created some special memories for home games - glad I was at every one.

Eric Moncur is still in TAMUs backfield

One of my all time favorite games

Javorski Lane throwing a fit on the sidelines was great.

You’re right I think that was GT. There was def something in that water that ****ed everyone off lmao. What a fun home stretch that season honestly. Hoping we’ll kick off something even better in a couple weeks.

Honorable mention …. Virginia Tech - LAST YEAR!! Game where both teams celebrated at the end… but Miami had the last laugh !!

Great game and I think a lot of afternoon classes were canceled as well - none of mine were but still made it to the game.

A lot of mentions for the 2017 VT game. I believe it was a Friday night game “blackout”. Definitely one of the best home game experiences in recent years. Obviously it was just setting the table for the Notre Dame game a week later.
