Best HC In ACC?

Why are you bringing the media up? If you're admitting they are wrong according to the stats, then what does their opinion matter?

Canes21...just bringing up the media wrt to "perception"...you brought up strong facts...no question...

history a few years ago would indicate the moniker was earned...lets see how the Tigers do this season...

what is your prediction? do they roll through the schedule or stumble against someone they shouldnt?

i wouldnt be surprised either way...

Wasn't this supposed to be this dummy jeepercreeper's list of top ACC coaches? Why would he care about the media's perception of Dabo if it's his list?

They haven't lost to an unranked team in how many years now?
 
Jimbo is the best ACC coach. But for the first time in a long time we will be able to make our case for our coach after this season.

Richt

Richt is the least accomplished of that list. Petrino did more with his access to talent than Richt did. Richt can change all that but as it stands now, Richt is fourth IMO.

Fuente will make a name for himself and UVAs coach is good.

Recruiting is such a huge part of being a college coach so you gotta put Jimbo and Dabo near the top based on ability to consistently field superior teams talent wise.

But....could either of those guys do Cutty has done at Duke? Make one of, if not the worst power 5 programs into a consistent winner? All while not having any of the recruiting advantages of a Florida State or Clemson. Plus a much more rigorous academic standard that most of the guys at FSU or Clemson wouldn't qualify for.

Obviously, winning trumps all so it'd be hard to justify putting David Cuttcliff at the top of the list. But preparation, gameplan, play calling, he's top flight in those areas.

Strong points about Cutty
 
The whole - "he isnt a good coach he just recruits well" is the weakest argument ever. This is college football, recruiting matters even more than gameday coaching in most cases.

Alll Jimbo does is pump out top 5 classes and put guys in the league. Add to the fact he has 3 conference titles, a natty and consistently wins 10 games (even without Jameis) - I dont know why this is even a debate.

I would also add that FSU has had a lot of pretty good players that weren't highly regarded. Development and/or evaluation of players like Devonta freeman when added to a roster of 5 stars leads to lots of Ws. I feel like that gets overlooked a lot by people who use the top 5 classes as a kop out.

I think Richt will be able to bring that to Miami more than any coach since Butch.
 
No one is saying Jimbo can't coach, all we are saying is he is more of a recruiter than a game day coach and without Jameis he has lost a game or two each year that he shouldn't have. That doesn't mean he isn't a great coach still, but of all of his strengths, his gameday coaching is not at the top.

I for one am not impressed with jimbo fisher

I have this risky idea that if you put tom herman as the HC at FSU, we would have lost every game that golden was here to him by at least 30

Do not forget that this gameday headcoach you speak of, with a superior roster, got absolutely... annihilated by oregon, losing by.. 40?

That was with a top overall draft pick as your QB, cook, ramsey.. etc.

And people lauding his recruiting skills.. the man is at FSU, how do you NOT recruit well there? You can get away with gawd **** murder there and everyone knows it.

FSU is like the bama of the ACC in that manner, it's a dirty @ss ***ing school and I hate the noles and their fanbase.

The thing that sticks out to me is what a person does with less.. if you're stacked, it's harder to say just how good you yourself are. As has been pointed out, cutcliff is killing it in that regard

that argument works both ways though. You say FSU recruits itself - you think Cutcliff would have FSU where jimbo has it in terms of winning and talent? I would say absolutely not.

Some guys are made for schools like Duke and some are made for FSU, Miami, bama, uf, etc.
