People on here saying jimbo isn't a good game day coach are fuqin stupid man. Ifs, buts, and maybes is all you hear when it comes to why he's not the best game day coach.

Talent still needs to be coached, developed, and guided.

Jimbo is the best game day coach and there is no debate, really. Recruiting dudes does not teach you how to call plays, put players in their correct positions or keep a consistent 10 win team.
Houston game was the first time ive ever seen jimbo out coached and I'd put that more on Kelly(DC) than I would jimbo.
 
Well, being a Cane, I can only vote on basis of NCs. Does anyone other than Dumbo have one?

I don't understand why y'all stressing its not like he's going up against Urban Meyer, the field in the ACC of HCs before this upcoming season was weak.

But above you it clearly says that Jimbo is 4-2 against Dabo and has also won a National Championship. Who cares if Auburn almost beat him, it was the best team out of the SEC that year and FSU won regardless??

And the he only won bc of Jameis argument is bs for those who bring that up as well. He also won the ACC and an Orange Bowl with EJ Manuel. You still need talent to win on this level doesn't change the fact that in the ACC Jimbo right now is the best game day coach.
 
Dabo and Jimbo hands down 2 best, in whatever order you out them in.

None else is even a close 3rd.
 
We know Jimbo and Dabo have recruited the best. They also both have appeared in the Final Four and Jimbo has a National Title.

I think by year 2 we will know how Richt and Fuente hold up in the ACC.
 
Dabo doesn't belong in the game day coach category . he calls no plays. His coordinator do everything on game day. He can't even be compared to jimbo or even cutcliffe on game day.

Whatever you and many fans believe Clemson has been one of the best teams in the last 5 years when it comes to beating teams they were favored to. Lazy media don't take the time to look stuff up

however...the perception (right/wrong) of "clemsoning" still hangs over the program.

As you said, the lazy media doesnt look stuff up, but didnt stop them (shocker) from asking DS about the curse of "clemsoning" all season and during his interviews throughout their CFB run.

Another point about DS...correct...he doesn't appear to have direct game day OC/DC like.responsibilities...so solid argument to leave him off the game day HC lists...

this season could spell the "clemsoning" label...or reinforce demons past...
 
Who cares what the perception is. The fact is Dabo doesn't lose to teams he shouldn't pretty much ever. The media also thought Golden walked into a terrible situation at Miami and his firing wasn't completely justified.

He's a recruiter like jumbo......to me I don't even know about coaches recruiting anymore. When I see Mark leave uga and they still land give stars it's the organization the school as a whole the higher ups. Whothe *** wants to play for muschamp fkin smart or saban. I think they as coaches out people in place to recruit off the radar not the staff

Who the **** knows anymore I mean who the *** wants to play for golden....I don't know what goes on behind the scenes but when Houston landing five stars something wrong

There's so many variables.

Recruiting is such a huge part of being a college coach so you gotta put Jimbo and Dabo near the top based on ability to consistently field superior teams talent wise.

But....could either of those guys do Cutty has done at Duke? Make one of, if not the worst power 5 programs into a consistent winner? All while not having any of the recruiting advantages of a Florida State or Clemson. Plus a much more rigorous academic standard that most of the guys at FSU or Clemson wouldn't qualify for.

Obviously, winning trumps all so it'd be hard to justify putting David Cuttcliff at the top of the list. But preparation, gameplan, play calling, he's top flight in those areas.
 
This idiot is basing his opinion on Dabo not being a top ACC coach on an erroneous perception perpetuated by morons that Clemson loses to unranked opponents. Clemson's last clunker was against NC State in 2011. Yet this dummy's still yammering about "Clemsoning" in downgrading Dabo even though that **** has been clearly put to bed and refuted by actual facts.

As of mid-October 2015, Clemson had 33 straight wins over unranked teams. Only one other FBS team has a longer winning streak against unranked foes than Clemson: Alabama, which has won 57 in a row against unranked teams dating back to 2007. Only two more teams (Florida State with 30 and Michigan State with 25) have streaks of longer than 20 consecutive triumphs against unranked opponents.

We shouldn't be shocked by his lack of knowledge given the fact that he thinks Dabo's last name is Sweeney. Tool.

No, Dabo is a recruiter and a great delegator as he does a great job at hiring assistants that fit Clemson recruiting and what he wants to do. Jimbo recruits but he actually calls his plays and coordinates his entire offense. Can't compare the two because Jimbo has a direct effect on his team on gameday, when it counts the most.


Mark set up a consistent winner at UGA, why would their recruiting drop off because he left? Recruiting is a mixed bag of bullshid.
Most kids go to schools to win. The coaches that win have the best schemes for the players they recruit, which in turn builds the reputation of the school with a long lasting effect. As long as the school hires a coach that will employ schemes that will still utilize the recruited talent correctly(seemingly) then there wouldn't be any drop off until that coach proves he sucks.

But tbh, all it takes is one great coach at a school to create a lifetime of recruiting perks. Bama still recruits off of the success of Bear Bryant for crying out loud.

SN:The only reason you know a player has talent is because a coach put him in position to display said talent. Yet you keep watering down the importance of schematics, playcalling, personnel, and development, which is essentially coaching.

Muschamp/Smart are known beast at developing defensive talent and at the very least putting them in position to shine so they can do what they REALLY want to do..... and that's make money in the NFL.

Saban, Muschamp, and Smart put players in the NFL and for most of the recruits, and their families,that is far more important than winning.
