Thoughts on who the best HC is in ACC?

Overall program vs game day?

My 2 cents...

Overall Program...1 Richt, 2 Sweeney, 3 Fisher/Mildenhall/Fedora, 4 Cutliffe

Gameday...1 Fisher, 2 Richt, 3 Cutliffe/Mildenhall/Fedora, 4 Addazio

Does Fuente get any love?

Left Sweeney off game day list because there is a reason "clemsoning" is both a noun and verb...

Left Fuente off until he proves he can coach at this level...no question he had had success previously..just not sold (yet) it translates to wins at VT...

Hard to argue that jimbo fisher isn't the best head coach in the ACC. Look at his recruiting ability, has won a championship and is running a successful program

I have never written anything pro-FSU on this website, but how is Jimbo not considered the best coach? Come on guys..

I know we all love Richt, and he was a homerun hire for this program, but how are you going to rank him that high after getting fired for not meeting expectations on the field? Time will tell how he'll fall in line with the rest of these guys. I'd put it at Fisher/Swinney/Cutcliffe/Fedora with what they've done for their programs recently. At this point in time, Richt probably deserves to be in between Swinney and Cutcliffe.

Fck Jimbo. All hate aside you have to probably put him at the top in the ACC. But if you add in coordinators as well, I'd go with Clemson for now. We'll see what Richt and company can do.

You are an idiot.

David Cutcliffe is best coach in ACC. Petrino is up there as well.

High praise for a guy with one top 25 finish, and one division title in 8 seasons.

You have to look with what he has had to work with and what he has done with it.
And you can also look at Tennessee under Fat Fulmer when Cufcliffe was the OC and what happened afterwards when he left on both occasions.

I know what he's done, that's why I ranked him third. Can't put him ahead of Fisher and Swinney with what they've done, especially when he hasn't even won the conference yet and has one top 25 finish. What he did as a coordinator is irrelevant, Fisher and Richt were far superior OC's in their day.

I didnt rank Swinney as a game day coach because I think his teams have consistently failed to live up to the hype. Like I said, there is a reasonfor the phrase "they pulled a clemson".. From a program perspective though, Swinney has done a great job in building the team into what it is today. What does this season hold for them? Are they really the world beaters people say or do they "pull a clemson" for the season opener?

Now, in contrast with Richt...true...he's had his share of teams failing on grand stages as well....but I gave him an edge over Swinney because at least a few of those losses came on bad bounces...bad calls. Clemson, again and again, has just gotten the doors blown off.

5 straight seasons with 10 or more wins, capped off by a close national title loss (which they may have won if alexander didn't get injured). Top ten finishes in 3 of the past 4 seasons. Swinney has an impressive resume.

Hugh...strong points...don't disagree...just something in my gut tells me on game day, he's being carried through the overall program he's assembled (top notch no doubt). I think a Fisher/Cutliffe/Richt/Addazio coached Clemson, with what Swinney has assembled, maybe gets over the humo or doesnt get blown out on the big stage...

Again...he's a top program leader, just still not sold on game day...but maybe this season proves me 100% wrong...just opinion...
