Best Case Scenario for the Season

In looking at the rest of our schedule, the best this team does is 9-3 on the year, with a chance to play in the Camping World Bowl. I don't think we get past UVA, much less with a short week of preparation. Games against Virginia Tech, at Pitt, and at Duke could present problems for us as well. More likely than not, I think we go 8-4 on the year with two more tough losses. It's going to take 2-3 seasons before this team can be consistently good, and another season after that before they can be very good. That's assuming we have the right coaching staff in place which is TBD. We'll have to wait and see how this team responds. We'll need one season at the least to evaluate this staff. It's too early to tell who is or isn't legit.

This is going to be an extremely long process, and 15 years of sucking has not helped. This job has always been a massive rebuild from the start, and this team needs to first learn how to get out of its own way. Too many self-inflicted errors and mistakes. Also, we've had no luck whatsoever. Football is at times a game of luck and we just haven't gotten any lately. That supposed "Curse of the Orange Bowl" feels more real every season.

Honestly I appreciate ur rationale post but after that game it’s hard to view this team through a long term lens. But yeah ur right this is a 8-4 team which sucks.
 
If we continue to amass 400+ yards a game and move the ball down the field every drive this offense is going to be extremely fun. They'll learn how to finish off drives and we'll put up points.

This defense though legit looks concerning. Run and pass defense is atrocious at the moment.

Honestly that’s what makes me the most disappointed our defense has regressed so much
 
Can y’all stop with this ****? We are 5-10 vs P5 schools and we are averaging 22 points per game in those games. We have as many games where we have scored 3 points as 40 points. Get out of my face with prognosticating this winning record
 
Could not care less. Miami routs BCC, and likely Central Michigan. Meaningless game where you hope no one gets hurt.

I want to see how we finish. We’re unlikely to run off a 10-0, 9-1, or 8-2 streak the remainder of the season. What I want to see if how the team, and more importantly, the coaches respond to adversity.

And if we finish 8-5 with a minor bowl game we need to play and coach our best game in that bowl game.

I have no idea how Florida didn’t put up more against us. Shows how bad of a qb Franks is. And they got 7 points off a muffed punt inside the 5. And then another score after fake punt that shouldn’t have happened.

We've never had a prospect at QB like this before though. He'll grow as the season goes along. I'd say this time is a bit different and not such a guarantee we'll be miserable all season.
 
Team doesn’t know how to win. 2 4th quarter leads blown in consecutive games. Who knows what the record ends up being.

The red zone offense was aggravating at times. It used to be that I’d hope we score off a turnover because even though we’d get close we couldn’t punch it in. Now I have that same feeling on a long offensive play; if we don’t score on the play even though we get close, we have difficulty following through. Hope they learn how to do this sooner rather than later.
 
6/7 win team at best. Wayyyy too many slugs.....no explosive players besides #9. We rarely even look like we want it bad enough.

The AD is clueless to what a winning team looks like

Program is toxic......completely disheartening to diehards who lived through the winning years
 
Best case? 8-4 and some meaningless bowl game.

I got us at a coin flip whether we even make a bowl

How tf is that going to help?

We spend a lot of time trying to get rid of dudes, but we're just not going to get a higher level of replacement. We aren't.

There's something very wrong with Miami football, and I don't see any coaches that could both change that, and are available.

And I'll be honest. Ol ***** head finebaume is right that Miami isn't a good job anymore. And it pains me to agree with that a-hole about anything, but he's right on this. Why would you take this job? It's like the middle east peace process of football. People try their hand because their egos are too big for their britches, but it never works.
