Why do we want a slow, run stuffing NT if we run a 4-3?

We need explosive guys who can get up the field.

Vince Wilfork played 4-3 at 330 and that was his job, to be a run stuffing NT with 2 gap responsibilities, the NT is a position in every base except when you line up wide 9 not just the 3-4. Vince just so happens to be extremely athletic . This kid isn't as athletic but he can do the same job, good find

Thank for that excellent example Zbrod95, it will hopefully help some of the less knowledgeable posters to understand defensive concepts.

For those that are visual learners I have posted a cut video of MSU vs Auburn from 2015 on the other forum, you can go an watch Diaz's MSU defense scheme in action with Miss St's big slow interior linemen. These Linemen use their strength/size to collapse the pocket and pressure the LOS into the backfield.

Comparing a recruit to Wilfork should result in a 1 month site ban. Literally a once in a lifetime athlete. 6 feet tall, 350 pounds and could dunk a basketball (allegedly). This kid is a mediocre high school NT prospect currently headed to a middling ACC program.

I didnt compare him to Vince wilfork, I said he could do the same job Vince did down here, which was play The run stuffing NT with 2 gap responsibilities. I never said this kid is the next Vince Wilfork. Btw the way if he was so "Mediocre" he wouldn't have scholarship offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Lsu, The University of Miami, Michigan State, Ole miss, Ohio State, Tennessee, and USC. Also Vince Wilfork 6'2 330, not 6'0 350

Shug Frazier, Buford, Defensive Tackle here's your proof btw

He can't do what Vince did. Vince was a wrecking ball and had talent running out his ***. This dude looks ok for a back up to a back up. The thread details the overblown nature of his recruitment.
