Bell holding call….

Miami wasn’t stopping VT lol

They literally had stopped VT the previous 2 possessions but sure...

It honestly looked like VT has taught their players to flop/sell penalties. The WR did the same thing on the BS DPI on OJ in the 4th. He completely sold that OJ held him. Looked the same with that DE, he threw his body to get the refs attention as Bell was manhandling him.

VT scored on 5 of next 6 possession after the INT brother.

Ok and my statement was if miami goes up 21-7 and the d gets a stop (like they had just done on the previous 2 possesions) it was gna turn into a blow out...ever heard of momentum? Crowd would have been going nuts. That overturned TD/interception changed the entire complexion of the game.

Joe rose was yelling today about that- stop calling back side holding calls so far from the play. It has no bearing on the play

That was not a hold
The end was skidding down to ground
I guess
He could have kept
Hands off him at that point to ensure no hold call was
Made
But he didn’t

Both of these plays are holding penalties. An offensive lineman grabbing a playing outside of a defender’s shoulders and/or bringing him to the ground, turning him to the side, or prohibiting him from reaching the ball carrier is holding and that’s what the VT player did on the play below.

It’s also holding when an OL grabs a defender above the shoulder pads preventing him from going after the ball carrier. And that’s what Bell did in the play below.

#68 is hooking our DL there. That’s 100% a hold.

Brother I agree holding is done ALOT. But Bell held here. It doesn’t matter if the defender slips. Bell was beaten to the outside, the defender was in pursuit of the ball carrier, and Bell initially impeded him by grabbing him above the shoulder pads. That’s holding.
ME PLAYING THE exact same position Bell is playing in college.......It wasnt a hold.

Reason it was called is.....the end tried to retrace after getting upfield, slipped....and did a sort of flop funny fall as he knew he wasnt getting to Ward which sold it as a hold.

On the VT one it also was a "close" one.....but if they didnt call that they definately should of called on the wr blocking Dyoni Hill on the same play....

Maybe our guys need to do a better job of selling it like VT did all game because they were flopping like bball players throughout.

The bolded was the only thing that assisted the refs to make the call. ..but dude was already falling on his own.
