Been racking my brain...

for almost a month, now, and my conclusion is that we are missing Berrios, Herndon, and to a certain extent Richards more than we ever thought we would coming into the season.. And besides Berrios, we were already seeing signs last year after Herndon and Ricahrds were done . We are relying on slow big guys and true freshmen to fill those spots and it is not working out especially in money downs..

Yes its the coaches fault for personnel, no scheme adjusting, and staying with a QB that obviously was mediocre and even worse now without these guys, but I think this explains the difference from last year.. Think about the results of the following games last year without big plays from Herndon and Berrios...

FSU
UNC
VT
Corch Rich had a whole offseason and plenty of cupcake games to adjust and hasn't. Ok take all on terrible corching.

Respectfully disagree. We could easily be in this same situation a year ago and people don’t realize that. Two Hail Marys in back to back weeks. Also the defense forced 4 turnovers a game against UNC, VT and ND. The only game that was never really in question was ND. People forget VT was driving in our territory with the score 14-10 and we forced a turnover then hit Herndon on a simple out route and he houses it and we coasted from there. If Jaquan doesn’t get that pick six we were in some deep sh*t against Virginia, and the last three games are well documented.

It’s more than missing just a couple of players, we aren’t getting the lucky bounces we got last year. The most concerning stat I found was we have been outscored 160-120 in the first quarter in the Richt era combined. Well over half the games we’ve scored 7 points or less, and about ten of them has been 3 points or less. He either doesn’t get them fired up or gets out coached.
Add the GT game to that list too. This offense has struggled over and over again to get going.

In a bounce game like Boston college u def need leadership. Too many of y’all on that madden bs. Our young cats are talented, yes. But experience is extremely important. We have alpha dogs on D. But on offense we just don’t. That’s why we see that same mistakes again and again. Dropped passes, wrong routes, not winning one on ones on the outside, missed assignments upfront. You can’t surround mediocrity at QB with those things. On O last year we had leaders at every level.

RB walton
WR berrios/Richards
TE Herndon
OL KC, DARLING

I have been also wondering what is wrong with the offense and maybe the answer is not entirely because of the coaching but mainly because the lack of proper recruiting or player development. If you come to think about it most of our current players are either Seniors ( Golden's recruits) or freshman (including redshirt) which are making silly mistakes and a sign that maybe the recruiting classes have not been that great under Mark Richt.

Example is Rosier, 3 years after Mark Richt became our coach our best quarterback is Golden's backup recruit to Kaya. At he QB position under Richt we have recruited Jack which left, Nkosi and Weldon which appear to be immature and Williams which appears not to be ready. This year we are not persuing any QB that we know of. Last year we failed miserably to properly assess the IMG quaterback (Arthur Something) and only started getting cold on him after he was bench. This year we put all of our eggs in one basket and our target went to Penn State which currently have 2 four star QB recruits this year.

Cats gotta stop consistently blaming golden for this regime's failures. It's pathetic fam. Besides, some of you act as if golden didnt't recruit ballers on offense (Berrios, Herndon, Njoku, Walton, **** even Richards and N'Kosi originally committed under golden). This mindset that the team will only have constant success once every golden recruit is gone is foolish and is more of an indictment of Richt and his subpar coaching.

He was 15-27 for 200 yards before the last drive, and that’s including a 70 yarder to Thomas where he was wide open and it was so poorly thrown Thomas had to wait for it and couldn’t score and led to a FG. He didn’t throw the ball past the line of scrimmage once on the final drive until the Hail Mary to Langham. Everything was wide receiver screens. Guy is one of the worst QBs is program history.

He doesn't game plan, that is why we don't score any points in the 1st half. We run the same plays week after week. You know, the same plays that have worked for 30 years, that just need all 11 guys to execute to be successful.. lol
This offense was crap last year, it was exposed as the season went on and has been further exposed this year.

This offense sucked last year and got more exposed as the season went on! This year the wheels have completely come off.

When a 2star QB Is your best option, you try and play complimentary football. So I wasn’t expecting 40 points a games this year or last year. But we’ve definitely gotten worse. At least last year we could manufacture explosive plays. This year nope

The reason we can show it is coaching:

DL returned Joe Jackson
OL returned St Louis, Gauthier, Donaldson

DL hasn't shown much if any drop-off.
OL has been trash! Donaldson hasn't taken a step, doesn't look leaner. St Louis isn't a great LT. Gauthier is still getting pushed back. Jones is TRASH!

That is why I posted the starting experience comparison from 2017 to 2018. We could say that DL talent is the real reason but Donaldson, St Louis, and Scaife were all highly recruited kids.

lol so then there was a lake of problems last year becuase we aint that different, we just made more plays in games last year that were going just like the ones we're losing this year
Maybe, but the overarching difference this year is doubt. Doubt that we are playing the best players. Doubt about our play calling. Doubt on whether the current coaching staff has what it takes to win a championship. Doubt that our players are mature enough to handle being the "top dog." And most recently, doubt about whether our players can even execute the plays being called.

Last year, that doubt wasn't there because we literally came from the dumps to win 10 straight. People believed then and decided that the coaches could get it done. This year we opened the season getting our teeth kicked in and the doubt was REAL from the beginning. Now we lost back-to-back against UVA and BC. The choices made by the coaching staff day in and day out, combined with the losses, have created and nurtured all this doubt. If we had not lost to BC people couldn't say too much about the QB change, but we lost.

But hey, maybe I'm dead *** wrong and the difference really is two/three players. I sure hope to God that the fix is as simple as a few players making big plays.

I get what you're trying to say, but we've beaten those same teams this year so far...

Year three. unless we want to be that have a good season every 3-4 years team we cant blame losing players as a reason for poor losses.

Teams have figured Richt's offense out. Even with those guys we struggled starting with the Pitt game. Richt has yet to adjust.

What really sucks the most was just how bad Rosier was, that was masked the most. People want to say well he was 10-0, the **** he wasn’t the team was. He had the 8th most INTs thrown and a top ten worst completion percentage out of all the quarterbacks in college. Not to mention our offense was 125th out of 125 on third down. He’s 0-5 against P5 teams dating back to last year and the 3 quarters against Virginia were putrid. AND HES STILL PLAYING. I just don’t get it, it’s frustrating.

Agree 100%. 10-0 start was fun, but it masked a lot of deficiencies, especially at QB.

And so it begins. The “we really miss ______” posts. It’s fitting that one of the “really missed” is a guy who was universally mocked and reviled on here for 3 years.

You know what we really miss? Good innovative coaching, planning, and scheming.

+1000 All of those named players were under utilized while here.

I agree that Rosier sucks this year but last year he made some clutch plays (using his feet and his inaccurate arm..LOL) when it mattered the most. I understand that we are ****ed that this team has crapped the bed two straight weeks on the road but that does not diminish what Rosier and that squad did last year. It has been a looooong time since my friends actually were scared of the "U" being back and it showed in the way they would put down Miami every week. I haven't received that kind of "hate" since 2002...LMOL!!!!

Yea Richt is terrible we get it but berrios was a HUGE loss... JT4 is more talented but doesn’t show up on game day like berrios did.

That and 2 season of an offense putting the same 5 plays on film.

This.

The jig is up. I don't know why fans continue to try to conclude that 'this is wrong or that is wrong' to cover up what's really wrong. What's really wrong is that we don't have an outside of the box thinking coach. His offense has been exposed and have been exposed for years, now. Why do you think UGA forced him to give up play calling? So these play calling issues have reared their head well before Richt took this job.
I don't understand why it's hard to grasp that the problem is Richt and his green staph.

Jon has no business being the QB coach; nothing on his resume prior to coming to Miami would suggest he qualifies to coach the most important position on offense.

Richt's resume as a play caller has been tarnished for the last several years, and he needs to step back in to the CEO role, only.

Searles should've NEVER been hired here. He's a journeyman OL coach that has developed a little bit of a reputation. Literally just came across these forums about this guy:
https://247sports.com/college/lsu/Board/59425/Contents/Stacey-Searles-25768023/
https://247sports.com/college/texas...oing-EXACTLY-what-he-did-at-Georgia-22226445/

The opposing teams have now had time to evaluate and dissect our plays and play calling. Do you recall what was reported by the broadcast team during the LSU game on what Aranda said? He said there is nothing "in between" w/ Miami. The strategy was to blitz us like crazy, take away the run, and force Rosier to make decisions, which he's incapable of. Ever since Pitt, EVERY team has had that same strategy. Doesn't matter if we have Jerry Rice, Playmaker, and Shockey on the field, as long as we face a defense w/ a pulse, we're going to struggle unless we get a new QB coach, a new OC and new OL coach.
