for almost a month, now, and my conclusion is that we are missing Berrios, Herndon, and to a certain extent Richards more than we ever thought we would coming into the season.. And besides Berrios, we were already seeing signs last year after Herndon and Ricahrds were done . We are relying on slow big guys and true freshmen to fill those spots and it is not working out especially in money downs..

Yes its the coaches fault for personnel, no scheme adjusting, and staying with a QB that obviously was mediocre and even worse now without these guys, but I think this explains the difference from last year.. Think about the results of the following games last year without big plays from Herndon and Berrios...

FSU
UNC
VT

Bruh, that's not more than a drop of water in the sea of problems...

We've gotten big plays from JT4 and Jordan in similar roles. Maybe the leadership of those guys, but that's not the reason.

lol so then there was a lake of problems last year becuase we aint that different, we just made more plays in games last year that were going just like the ones we're losing this year

Not from SOFL, expectations too early, injuries, TRUE CANE
all he did was show up, make plays, and compete every second he was on the field.

miss BB big time

he was the perfect face for the Canes during his time here

Remember the convict celebration vs ND?

Yeah we lost guys, but talent at the skill positions is not our issue right now. Talent at qb and o line is. But so also is not adjusting our scheme, not developing a qb, and not executing on game day. The skill guys we have right now are more than capable of competing with anyone in the country.

Berrios was that dude. Criminally underrated by the fan base.

His leadership and charisma held the team together. It is a HUGE loss this year. I bet there would be none of this undercurrent of discontent if he were still on the team.

Agree to an extent, guys like that are always difficult to replace. Think the larger problem is just not being able to get the ball to the guys we do have, though.

All you have to do is look at the overall experience of the starters coming into the 2017 and 2018 seasons. This team is young and making a ton of mistakes. I'd like to think we turn the corner in the back half of the season similar to 2016.

2018:
We had 1 OL that had at least two years: St Louis. Gauthier 1 year at C and 4 games at G. Donaldson 1 year at G, 0 at OT.
We had Richards (nope), Homer, JT, Cager backed up by freshmen WR, TE, Dallas
We had 1 DL that had at least two years of starting or getting serious PT in Joe!

2017:
We had 3 OL that had at least two years of starting under them already in McDermott, Darling, St Louis. Gauthier had 4 starts.
We had Richards, Walton, Herndon, BB backed up by JT, Homer, Irvin
We had 5 DL that had at least two years of starting or getting serious PT in Thomas, Norton, McIntosh, Harris, DJax, JJax, Moten

was thinking the same thing.

this team has no leadership on either side of the ball from a player standpoint. none, nada, zip. the seniors on this team are either head cases or quiet guys.

i know rosier sucks, but it doesnt help to not have a go to receiver who consistently catches the ball and make plays. i like thomas, but he is desean jackson not randy moss.

2017 we got lucky. 2018 that luck is gone. The players, and coaches, got too caught up in that 10-0 start. Anyone with eyes could see we had serious problems, and we were going to get exposed if things didn't improve. Well, things didn't improve, and this is what we get. We need an offense, and now most of the team knows it. They know there are serious issues, and they are losing faith in the three headed monster calling plays and game planning. Berrios, Herndon, and Richards wouldn't fix this crap.

Jaquan is a leader, don't put him down like that. Not saying there isn't an issue, but that guy has all the qualities.

It may be true and the inexperience is an issue but we still should be better regardless on offense than what we currently are putting out let’s be real

And so it begins. The “we really miss ______” posts. It’s fitting that one of the “really missed” is a guy who was universally mocked and reviled on here for 3 years.

You know what we really miss? Good innovative coaching, planning, and scheming.
