Beck used to throw it to Bowers all the time, but....our TE's???

Take a look at Dawson’s usage of TEs at his prior stops. Non-existent. Just not his style and we don’t have a dude there that’s forcing him to figure it out. I do love seeing some of the other WRs getting involved tonight though - 17, 0 and 3. I don’t think Moore had caught a ball since USF.

What tight ends? It’s not like we have a Jimmy Graham or Jeremy Shockey on the team. Won’t we wish!

BTW, I don't mean to be Debbie Downer and I'm happy we won (although we suck coming out of a bye usually), but Beck was very successful throwing it to TE's at UGA and he just doesn't do a lot of that with us. It makes no sense, because if we actively and regularly threw to our TE's, it would loosen up the run game and the medium to long range passing game.

He loved throwing to Bowers, why not Lofton???
I think that developed at UGA because the WR were so bad...

TE had a good year last year, but I agree
Cam made a point of spreading the ball around. Dawson said it mutltiple times in pressers. Dawson has also said the TE is an option in most of the WR plays... The QB decides where he goes with the ball. It's pretty clear he has the most trust in Toney and Daniels.

I just don't understand why Marion continues to get the snaps he does. He had two more drops yesterday. Give Tony Johnson more snaps; get Moore on the field.

Uga lived in 12 personnel those years, bowers was basically the 3rd wr and Darnell Washington was basically the 6th olineman

But they still had George Pickens, Adoni Mitchell, Ladd, and jermaine burton on their first championship team, thats an elite wr room

Bowers was a freshman and they still built the offense around him because he was that good AND they could be matchup **** for everyone because their base offense is two tight ends who can block and one is an elite wr. Its basically what the 9ers do with kittle and that full back i forgot his name

Match personnel with your base and they kill you thru the air with mismatches, come out in nickel and they run all over you their two TEs

Caveman recruits TE’s to be glorified OL guys.
Dawson has not been able in 3 years to integrate the TE into his very small playbook.

The simple answer is stop viewing bowers as a TE and view him as an elite slot WR. Beck played with bowers one year 2023 and Georgia TE target rate was only 12% but they had a 33% slot wr target rate. Thats where bowers lived…

2023 uga:

In 2024 when bowers was gone its was an even lower TE target rate at 9%:

For comparison here is our 2025 target share so far:

We have a 14% TE target rate that is a much smaller sample size but its higher than both of becks starting years at Georgia. And we dont even have better TEs. I think maybe yall have beck confused for stetson bennett OR yall are should view bowers as an elite wr instead of a TE

And that is why the human head weighs 8 pounds.
