“They (SMU) ran the same [defense] the whole time. I just execute the play that’s called,” Beck said. “If I’m given the opportunity to, if I see something, change something, then I will. But, again, I just execute the play that’s called.”

And? “If I’m given the opportunity to” can mean a couple different things…. He certainly changes protections. I think Cam essentially did what he wanted and to **** with the play call. He made it work more times than not.

Don’t forget Beck didnt have the option to do much of anything at UGA. He said that in his first presser. It was one of the reasons he was interested in working with Dawson. Now, if they have him handcuffed …..

Impossible. They only have one set of handcuffs and they are in Dawson because Mario is holding the play sheet according to CIS

You asked for an example of the team being broken in another thread and then seem to be discounting examples of broken pieces…

Beck and Dawson are clearly having problems here as things fall apart. They were always going to be the 2025 scapegoats when Mario failed in these situations. And here we are.

Why is it “if they handcuffed him”? Mario determines the mindset, Mirabal has a role. Dawson and Beck must work within it. MariBros have made that very clear here, even while blaming Dawson.

Cam Ward didn’t have the problems that Carson Beck is having…EOS
Cam ran his own ****.. Basically told Mario and the fans **** you and your wear orange tops every home game, he controlled the team from what we wore to what plays we ran.. Our coaches cant do **** right.. We play a 100s ranked pass offense and we are trying to run up middle behind our worst olineman if they arent getting penalties..

Cam Ward would extend plays and improvise when our line was beaten, trying to keep plays alive rather than forcing throws. There is zero improvising with Beck, which means on every play our o-line must win or Beck will be forced to go through his reads faster, which leads to more predictability and more forced throws. The offense doesn't help Beck at all, especially if the o-line is beaten, there are penalties, or there's no run game.

Beck isn't Cam, so it's the coach's job to design plays that will make him and this offense most effective. Constantly running into stacked boxes or calling 50 billion WR screens a game doesn't seem to be effective.

Once again, we were more effective running than passing. The failures in the passing game ended more drives than "running into stacked boxes".

This is called being "mentally shot" .... company man attitude.
..he is in survival mode to not make mistakes and be blamed . He has no confidence in himself.

TVD Part Deux..

Game plan made SMU’s DC look like a genius when only two things worth focusing on. Load the box to slow Miami’s run game & limit Toney’s explosive plays.
