Beck ain’t it, whiffed on Mendoza

One of the worst performance I have ever seen from a Miami Qb. If he cannot throw a ball in the wet rain then him and his receivers need to spend hours each week in the pouring rain playing 7 vs 7. He was throwing balls into the ground last night on 10 yard throws. Honestly looked like he was throwing with his left hand instead of his right. Beyond pathetic. Mendoza from Indiana would have been a much better pick up and was a huge mistake not to get him. Mateer from Okahoma is a 100 times better.
Interesting take considering the guy on the other team is on the Heisman watch and couldn't throw as well. 🤷‍♂️

I mean Beck was awful last night, and I am considered a sunshine pumper.

Mendoza I was a fan of last year in portal, many weren't. Mendoza will get drafted higher than Beck.

Maybe the moisture was an issue with Brockermeyer and the snap/ball.

Beck has to play better against FSU.
It was raining hard and the field was wet the vast majority of the game. You have unrealistic expectations with how things were during the game.

We lost points when the SEC refs blew the whistle on Browns 70+ yard TD run.

Sometimes you have to admit when the opponent is very good on a specific unit, like the UF defense for instance. Their defense is lefit as f_ck!

LSU's offense may not be the greatest, but scored all of 13 points (20 total with the pick 6) offensively against UF with 5 interceptions and a pick 6 included. How many points do you believe Miami scores against them if they throw 5 picks and the field and football is dry like it was during the LSU game?

How LSU is still ranked above Miami is baffling! That is SEC bias for you though.

He has better odds to win the heisman right now. Go see dmoneys post on not paying freshman qbs

Aside from Bethune and some beautiful throws, guy is kinda telling the truth.

I wanna blame the rain and we'll see what happens @ Doak.
Tape don’t lie. For example, that beautiful catch made by CJ Daniels in the Notre Dame game was an over thrown off target ball. Now it’s a touchdown and I’ll celebrate the **** out of it but it doesn’t change the fact it was an off target throw.

It’s a chíńk in the armor that hasn’t bit us in the butt yet. Just like like Jaden Harris bad angle in the UF game last year was a canary in the coal mine.

And btw we’re one of the most complete teams in the country

Mendoza comes with baggage, drama, and demands. And if he doesn’t get what he wants he’ll just call in sick. They were up 56-10 in the 4th quarter and Illinois couldn’t stop the run and he was still out there throwing and scrambling.

I’m with Beck.

Mendoza QBR 84.3
Beck even after last night 81.5

Mendoza App St, ODU and Indiana State to start the year. He has Iowa and Oregon next. Let’s see how things go. He’s solid but Indiana will not be the media sweetheart this year.
Earlier in the year, Indiana folks were *****ing about Mendoza's performance. Go figure.

Looked like he was firing passes too hard... low to the ground initially and then compensating by going high.
Maybe he was gripping the ball tighter due to wet ball + drizzling rain...
I remember Peyton Manning talking about how the wet ball affected his grip and release ....that he literally practiced dipping balls in a pail of water
watching our boys warming up, it looks like Carson was guiding the ball, instead of just ripping it. Also, CJ was having a hard time catching the ball, in that monsoon they were warming up in, folks that was some heavy rains.

Yeah we did overlook Mendoza. Honestly I would have been upset if we got him and not a proven guy. But **** he is playing good. We got Beck and I think he is still good despite last night. He’s won championships and big games.
So, we have an option, Mendoza, playing for a Cali team, that score what 9 points against FSU, or Beck, who played in a monster conference (SE), and had a 24 and 3 record. I think I go with Beck.

Copying my response from another thread as it’s more appropriate for this one:

Did any of you Mendoza slurpers watch any of his game?

Yes 5 td’s as follows

1. check down to RB behind the line of scrimmage runs 10 yards for Td
2. Really nice throw to TE up the middle TD
3. Screen pass to RB for 50+ yard TD
4.Wide open receiver in the end zone
5. Pretty wide open receiver in the middle of the field.

He’s a good QB. But not as good as everyone makes him out to be. I think when it’s all said and done, Beck will show he’s the better QB and was the better option for our offense.

By no means am I slandering him, just saying from what I’ve seen from him, it looks like a lot of what he did against us last year. Check downs and screens that the players take to the end zone
All I remember about Mendoza when we play him, was short passes, that went for chunk plays, because we couldn't cove or tackle anyone on defense

Angry The Lion King GIF

This take is about as bad as the Lane train people who thought we should have hired him instead of Mario.

Mendoza is not a bad QB. He is just not a Championship Caliber QB.
Beck is.
Close thread.

Beck will be fine. Y’all must forgot he’s coming back from a pretty significant injury on his throwing arm. Not only that, but I’m pretty sure every game has been a wet game.

At 70+, my AI analytics say Beck. Florida boy, seen SEC action, been to the dance, yadda, yaddi, yadda. Most importantly, he’s a team player, fits our culture. Now, I don’t know much about the other QBs, but this one’s filled the need post-Cam. 4-0, the team is hitting on all cylinders this season. I’ll enjoy.
