Been on this board forever so I should know, but I don't. What does that mean? Has something to do with Golden's ineptitude. Thanks.

Wow. Just wow. That Al Golden sure had a way to motivate. That is so colossally stupid for a big time coach; so glad he's gone, and every day we get further removed from him.

Thx.

And Golden wanted to remake our athletes to fit his plodding 3-4 scheme, hence "cheeseburger". I believe it was Jelani Hamilton who mentioned his daily caloric intake was in the 10-12,000 range.

All of what you said is true. He also isn't much different than Dabo. Basically the same corny-*** cliches, but different results.

The difference between Dabo and Golden was resources and the ability to be a complete scumbag. If Golden was a heartless person, he would most likely still be the coach at Miami, because he would have jettisoned the dead weight of D'Onofrio, and held his staff accountable. That was what was missing with Al. He was loyal to a fault, and there's no room for that in a leadership role. Dabo has no ethics, he just wants to get results. Even with that personality, people forget how close Dabo was to being unemployed had Chad Morris not come along. Clemson was treading water, and then Chad came along and really made things happen for the program.

I know it is common on this board to pretend that Golden didn't do anything, but Richt wasn't able to come in and win 9+ games his first two seasons had Golden not accomplished something. He never took the next step, but the dude did get some things done in regards to bringing the program into the 21st century. He ultimately failed, but his tenure was far different than the Coker and Shannon years which were unmitigated disasters.
