BC's Take on Miami Game (we still win)

If our defense plays lights out I think we win pretty easily, if we allow Dillon and their QB to get hot...not so much.

Defense played lights out against UVA and it did nothing for us. We have to live in reality. If Richt changes his approach to the game and, I dunno, throw in a slant, run some motion, run a wild cat, throw from the wildcat....then we'll win. But if he calls this same bull chit game he's been calling since the beginning of the season, I'm not hopeful.

This is my one fear. At what point does the defense look over at the offense and say "man eff ya'll"? The old Canes D would have been fighting the O in the locker room or on Greentree for the crap they pulled in Virginia. Those days are long gone I know.
I’m just as worried about the top notch talent at RB WR and TE getting fed up

There are people in the pro Richt camp (just needs more time) and people in the anti Richt camp (seen enough, nip this failure in the bud). Who is correct? Let's just say that both sides agree that there is a high probability that we are going to lose to Boston College this week, in year 3 of Rick's tenure.

I do not agree.
How was that probability figured?
This game is a toss-up.
We'll see in a couple of days.

The bandana game is more of an event onto itself than any particular feelings about the team involved. Every school has certain rivals where the team "gets up for the game". Miami and BC have a history, but the two schools are not rivals - so the fans and team will not be "getting up" to play a rival. But the bandana game always gets a sellout crowd, and for whatever reason, BC often wins. Last year it was a whitewash of Florida State 35-3, and before that it was a top ten USC team falling to the eagles. For both teams this is a must win game to set in motion what the hopes and desires of each team was at the start of the season.

On defense, the Eagles have 2 defensive tackles that have not even been able to slow down opponents rushing attacks. The linebackers are very slow. One corner is very weak. But the defensive ends are two of the best in the country, and the secondary is very opportunistic in getting picks. On offense BC has many good running backs including an elite back in Dillon (he will play but will probably not be 100%) behind a senior offensive line. The quarterback is hot and cold - mostly cold - he just can't throw an accurate ball. He is an option quarterback who never runs anymore due to an injury last year greatly limiting his production. He never throws a pick because on 3rd and 10 he is not allowed to throw the ball more than 3 yeards. BC has two talented quarterbacks on the bench who almost never get to play. The biggest problem is the play calling. Some games are spent THE ENTIRE GAME running up the middle into a 9 man box for no gain. When BC opens up the play book with the deep ball coupled with the power run game they are capable of scoring a lot of points. If they play turtle, most likely won't see the endzone all night. So this game may not be close at all, but a good old fashion schooling that could go in either direction.

I like our defense but you guys overrate it. We haven’t played an offense with a pulse all season.

If we can’t get our run game going we’re fuqued. The O-Line has not been able to get the run game going against good defenses in LONG time. The O-Line better bring there best effort. If we can break some runs we win.

Not so much the run game using he running back but using Rosiers legs will be huge in this game. That's how we won at Notre Dame, VT, etc and since Rosier is the starter, we need him to run and then throw off of play action. Take what the defense gives us and we can get back to putting some points on the board.

We haven't played an elite offense (not sure there are any in the ACC besides Clemson) but we have played some pretty good offenses. Virginia has been putting up points on their opponents, Florida State has done so also and even UNC puts up points on people. There is no elite offenses in our conference right now so we play who we play and I expect our defense to continue to play at a very high level. We need them to because our offense stinks which is putting it nicely.

I don't think we're the 85 Bears, but I think this D is more than solid. By far the 2nd best D in the conference and plenty good enough to win the Coastal if we had an offense with a pulse

Well, if their QB has only thrown 4 picks all season that’s not a good sign. We all know the turnover chain is gonna have to make multiple appearances in order for Miami to come out of there with a win.

you would think, but the Virginia game threw that idea out the window. Offense is going to have to grow up and stop hanging on momma's apron strings.

I really hate to say this, but I literally have zero faith in this offense or M. Richt. I suspect we'll see mostly the same things on offense we've seen all year. Smfh

For some freakish reason the same Canes team that played last year at Pittsburgh and lost to a freshmen QB's first start for some Twilight Zone reason shows up at our road games , please check the tunnel before game starts please.

This night is very unique to BC's season because it's a cause that everyone in the country can get behind.

How should our staff combat the Red Bandanna theme?

Use a red bandana to shine up the Turnover Chain!

I view this game as strength against strength( our defense against their offense) and weakness against weakness(our offense against their defense)'
Winning the later probably wins the game

Agreed, he needs to keep on the read option if the D end are crashing down and make them pay. Which he hasn’t done well this year by the way. BUT I think teams have now figured Rosier out. They know he is somewhat of a threat on the keeper but can’t hit the broad side of a barn. I think teams have adjusted and gameplaned for the QB draw. They will key on the run and try to force Rosier to make throws.
