BC's quarterback has Miami roots

Thomas Castellanos, sophomore transfer from UCF who grew up in the 305 before finishing up high school in South Georgia (Waycross for y'all who might be familiar with the area).

Watched some of Boston's College game at Syracuse last night and the kid is flat-out a playmaker. Eagles have won five straight (weak comp for sure) and he's passed for 800 yards and ran for 500.

Interesting story (linked below) on his background as an older brother, Akeem Jones, was a star QB at Carol City and legit D1 prospect before going JuCo in Kansas. I'm sure LCE, gogeta and some others knew all about him.

Watching Castellanos reminds me of the type of QB I've often wished Miami had: A guy who could make things happen with his arm and his feet. Surround a difference-maker like that with talent at the other skill positions and we've got something for sure.

We have a guy like that right now in Brown, but people shut on him and say he will never play here smh. These guys are the types we pass on because they don’t fit the prototype, but the prototype has now evolved. It’s no longer the statue Payton Mannings. It’s now the dual threat guys or guys who can at least take off for 10-20 yards on any given play.

Did you guys forget about King? We never have guys like that? Huh?

Dual threat would mean being able to do 2 things......run and complete passes down field(not WR screens). If Brown is playing meaningful snaps for Miami then Miami is no longer trying to win games. I am all for a QB that is mobile but dont want a QB that prefers to run.
Brown can pass enough. He throws beautiful passes when on the run. In the pocket he struggles but we won 10 games with rosier. You could do a lot of RPO, play action and bootlegs with him. He’s better than rosier with a much better offense around him (backs, line, WRs). He got thrown out there as a freshman and looked like he could be the one someday. And he still can be. He had to have gotten better than 12 months ago and has another 8 months before next season to make more improvements. If he can improve his completion percentage by 10 percent (we had lots of drops also) we cookin! TVD completion percentage was also 💩 last year.

Not sure what game anyone was watching last night, but the BC QB looked average at best. He should have been picked off 4 times last night. Four passes hit SU players in the hands and were dropped. He throws a terrible ball and honestly looks about 5’8 at best. BC looked like hot garbage and beat an SU team that looked awful with a touchdown at the end of game that was a direct result of terrible ACC officiating. How that team played FSU tough is a head scratcher.

Akeem was a good dude, awesome person, and solid leader. Went to middle school with him and he was always competitive. Not sure if I'd call him D-1 quality coming out of Carol City, as he didn't have the grades anyways. Never heard of Castellanos, but guess it makes sense, as the article says he been in Georgia since a jit

His one of those. Sure why not but you are hoping for someone a lot better

I just saw some of the game as I mentioned, but the BC quarterback is much more of runner than D'Eriq King was post ACL injuries (can't remember how elusive DK was prior to getting hurt at UH).

Pretty sure as others have indicated in this thread, that King would've been on a whole other level as a passer at the same point of his college career

King ran for over 500 yards in his one full season with us.

I like him.
I’ll always root for a kid that’s a competitor, tough, and makes plays.
Very good running QB.
That being said, that game is not even close if he hit open receivers down field.
EDIT:
Since we didn’t complete a pass past 15 yards down field, and ball security was non-existent at the QB position, we would have won last night with this man behind center.

I don’t know why you guys do this to yourselves. If it make sense, we won’t do it. TVD is the guy. Mario can’t quit him
