Problem with recruiting low character high star guys like Erma Lame and DoorMatt Thomas is that they quit at any signs of adversity. You can load up a roster with 4 and 5 star punks and get humiliated by a 2 star factory like BC when those maggots are low character quitters. That's what you've seen with FSU.

They've switched it off, so it doesn't matter how much athletic ability you have when some big dude, who is breathing fire across from you is playing hard. That 2 or 3 star will knock your 4 or 5 star dyck in the dirt if your high star guy doesn't care.

That's just one of two total examples. There are only two Saban or Meyers in CFB everyone else survives rivalry games. Stoops, Dabo, Gundy, Franklin, Jimbo, the list of second tier coaches are all mostly surviving rivalry games.

Also poor leadership by Dumbo and lack of discipline. He's had quite a few players getting into trouble the last few years and just covered it up. That undermines any attempt at discipline and rules. The players don't fear Dumbo and any consequences. Usually these signs of lack of focus and discipline lead to more losses. That's exactly what's happening at F$U.

Meyer is the exception to this. That dude doesn't give a crap what his kids do, he's gonna put em on the field and they still win.

Yep. It's lazy recruiting, simply taking highly rated players. A team needs chemistry, not a bunch of high ranked me first players. Most of them went to FSU thinking they would sign up and coast to Ws. Same exact thing happened here under Coker. Lazy recruiting coupled with poor coaching never works out well. FSU is talented, but they are gutless. Now it's going to get ugly for them, because those highly ranked players aren't going to want to go there now. They won't even be close to being the most talented team every week they step on the field. They are done.

Urban Meyer is one of the luckiest coaches in college football in this regard.

At every stop his rivals were down or having their worst stretch in decades.

He goes to Florida when Tennessee, Florida State and Miami are having worst-in-decades struggles.

He goes to Ohio State when Michigan is down and Penn State is on probation.

So on.
