Miami has plenty of money to be successful. What they don't have, is competent spenders.

Do we?
It seems like every time we run into coach-on-hot-seat cycle we hear that money isn't an issue at UM. Yet we then hire a HC at decent salary with some serious head scratching retread asst coaches....so I would say UM is not a poor school by any stretch of the imagination, but they are poor in commitment.
USC and UCLA are two other schools with same rep and they are better endowed than UM.

You just said it, we are not poor in the slightest with money, only in competency in the spenders.

Baylor to an extent got lucky. For every Matt Rhule there Are FAR more hot prospects who turned out to be failures. UT could have brought in Matt Rhule three years ago but went for Tom Herman. Three years ago that was a no brainer. Now Baylor looks like it’s AD was a genius.

The school does have a very strong commitment to athletics. They’ve survived scandals that would have killed other programs in football and basketball. And it is a beautiful campus.
Baylor is a very beautiful campus. I have been several times to their campus. I would assume they have plenty of money from the hospitals here in Texas. I’m not too crazy about Waco. Their facilities are very nice!

And before Rhule, they did well with Briles.

We have a gorgeous campus also

I don't know about Baylor's money situation but let me tell you about Clemson. My brother married a woman from there and I was there for the wedding. I kept seeing these IPTAY bumper stickers and asked about it. I Pay Ten Thousand a Year is what IPTAY means. Apparently there are 17,000 people who do that every year. So I broke out the calculator and multiplied 17,000 times 10,000 a year. 170 million a year in funds donated to Clemson athletics. http://www.iptaycuad.com/ I doubt UM has 170 million donated to UM athletics. It is hard to compete with that type of funding.

But can they raise funds for a billboard, for banners? Those are the true patrons.

Base member is $60 to get car decals. Plus some other benefits depending on tier. They had $35 million in donations for 2019. Not bad but not $170 million http://www.iptaycuad.com/pdf9/5488658.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=28510

You are correct and I was wrong. I also see that while they reported 35.8 million in annual donations but they also said 63.7 million was the total donation to ONE ITPAY enterprise in 2019. Not sure how those figures reconcile. So combine the ITPAY money, the ACC revenue and they have a dynamic fund raising system that Miami doesn't have.

Wow the Baylor coach just used his 2nd time out of the 2nd half on offense down 26-7. Reminds me of Diaz during our bowl game. That is a mistake you just can't make as a coach.

- School is in po-dunk Texas
- Has to recruit against Texas, aTm, and Okie on a regular basis
- Has not been a historic powerhouse/college football blueblood
- Is a small private school
- Already recovered from a disastrous scandal

Miami has ALOT more going for it compared to Baylor, but Baylor's admin and Athletic Department actually care about WINNING

BOT...PAY ATTENTION

I find these post funny as people in the Midwest and other parts of the country look at the city of Miami as a Cesspool..

It's I pay ten a year as in $10. It's their hurricane club. Obviously it raises more than us but not the numbers you are throwing out.

My partner is die-hard Baylor. Baylor is private so they don't have to say how much coaches get paid. But he says, coming from a reliable Baylor source, that Ruhle is the top 10 highest paid coach in college football. Not saying it's true, but Baylor enjoyed the football success they had under Briles, and after that mess they knew they had to pay to get the right guy to get football back. They succeeded in that.

And Ruhle's dream job is the Giants, but apparently the GM is a major *** hole. Could get interesting in the next few days. Ruhle signed an extension mid-season.

I bet $.50 Ruhle stays.

Why the **** would any right minded person ever donate any amount of money to a school that gives zero fcks about the program that built Miami into the modern day Miami? It absolutely goes against any articulable facts.
