Which of the three sports teams will win a national championship first?

Miami has always been a football school with baseball coming in second. Basketball wasn't even around until the mid-80s. But things sure have changed. Our championship teams are floundering with poor coaching and good recruiting, while basketball is on the rise with a great coach and so-so recruiting. If you had to bet on one of the three; which will win a national title first? There aren't very many teams that have won all three championships. Florida is lacking a baseball title and FSU has only won football. I wouldn't mind seeing one of those crystal basketball trophies displayed in the Center someday. We came so close in 2013 and if Larkin hadn't been sick for the Marquette, they may have gone all the way.
I would like to see a basketball title, but football is always closest to a title, even thought it sure didn't feel that way this week.

Of the 3 programs in question, Larranaga is the only real coach. Of the other 2, one is a lazy burnout, and the other one is just in over his head.

Hard to do with basketball being in the best conference. Coach L is a great coach but the recruiting just isn't there yet(not his fault). Until Miami starts winning on a continuous basis, they won't get any big time recruits in BB. As far as the question, I'd say baseball.

A gamma ray burst will wipe out all life in the solar system before any of those three occur in our lifetime.

i got basketball team. they're stack this year I think they'll make a deep run in the NCAA tournament

All you bball supporters are part of the problem. This admin has been trying to pull the wool over ur eyes for a decade. They've been desperate to make this school a basketball first school; to replace football excellence with bball success.

It is much easier to bring in a 10-15 kids with good grades who can compete in bball than it is to field a competitive team of choir boys in football. This schools hardon for changing its identity is maddening. **** basketball, I want my U back, not this abortion of a Wake Forest imitation.

Any chance for a preseason ranking? Not that it means anything but wondering if the "experts" think the same.

Just one of the dumbest posts(of many) on this site. I'm a Miami Hurricane(that means all sports). However I only follow football, basketball, and baseball(somewhat). I'd rather the school be dominant in all sports and always at the top every year compared to just one sport. Coach L just happens to be one of the best basketball coaches in the nation. If he had the talent schools like Duke, Kentucky, and NC pull, he'd be winning title after title. At the time both coaches were hired, IMO they were very good hires. Both came from small time programs but had had success. Golden hasn't been able to translate as an Xs and Os coach like Coach L has. Doesn't mean Golden wasn't a good hire at the time or that Miami had an ultimate agenda to turn the school into a basketball school.

How come tennis isn't an option? Where's your faith, Kirijax!?!

LOL I did consider it but decided I would go with just the three major sports. I didn't want people picking tennis just to make me feel better about the current situation. lol

But just for fun, Canes tennis is considered one of the college sports dynasties on this list. It's the future that looks a bit bleak for a while. We haven't made the NCAAs for the last 3 years and the last 5 out of ten. This has never happened in the history of the team.

People seem to have more faith in the baseball team than the football team. Not that I blame them right now.

Come on man, stop the crap. Its much more fun to know that Canes fandom doesnt end after January. Having a competitive Basketball team is awesome and just as exciting as football in the moment of competition. Larranaga has energized my love for Canes basketball and that doesnt diminish my love for canes fball...at all.

The chance in basketball is next to none. Coaching is irrelevant. With only 5 players on the court you need oodles of supreme talent and only a handful of programs have annual access.

Enjoy the uptick but don't kid yourself toward potential for a high payoff.

Very close between football and basketball. I'm not sure which one I'd pick. Probably baseball because our facility doesn't regulate the program like the football stadium does.

You know what was WAY more fun? Spending all basketball season celebrating National Title wins and major bowl wins.

Did ANYONE think the 1980s WERENT FUN? I'd rather no basketball team and 4 titles in ten years than the ******ry of ACC bball.

Baseball. Coach L is the only real coach of the 3, but it will be extremely difficult for UM to win a title with the current level of talent we bring in. I do think that with sustained success under Coach L, UM can eventually turn itself into a destination for elite players if we keep hiring the right guys, especially because basketball recruiting isn't as regional as football recruiting is. However, I don't see that level of talent coming any time soon. If DiMare has a clue, he can win a baseball title in 2 years here because we have access to elite talent. If we got the right guy in football, we could win a title within 3 years, but I'd say that's less likely than baseball.

You are consistently one of the dumbest posters on here. It's pretty crazy. No idea why you think the two are mutually exclusive.
