I read other similar statements from DMoney and this makes a little more sense. Blake does not want Zo able to fire him and also wants to let Manny do his job. Question will be...can Manny do his job? Bring in Zo for the "Chief" role and BOT expand it as needed over the next couple years.
Is that thinking off base?

Does it matter if you give highsmith the express authority to fire the ad? He can go to the bot and recommend he be fired. Nobody can hide. Eventually the day if reckoning will come if they continue to fail.

The Chief of Staff and GM roles are stupid. Hire Alonzo and his hand-picked team to evaluate our football program and athletic department. Alonzo would report to the BOT and his job would be to deliver his assessment at the end of next season. If Alonzo determines that Blake James sucks then you fire Blake and replace him with Alonzo.

This makes to much sense. There's no way this will happen it's not messy enough.

A general manager in college ball makes no ******* sense. Especially one that’s above the head coach. You can have people who do thinks like evaluate talent, but those are below the head coach. If Diaz can’t handle the responsibility of being a coach, then fire him. And btw no real coach would ever agree to join a football program that they are not in charge of.

it makes a ton of sense when your AD is useless. The good programs know what butters their bread and make sure their AD is competent when it comes to directing a football program. Blake James is not that guy. That’s why we need an assistant AD/GM that does that for him.

The tragedy in all of this is Blake James should NOT be in this position to begin with because:

1. He should have NEVER been hired.

2. He should have been fired multiple times by this point.

But because we lead the nation in (a) apathy, (b) lack of accountability, and (c) hiring the unemployable...nothing really changes.

I don’t know him personally. Or even his resume very well, but from everything we have seen of Blake James, he is not a good AD, and apparently not good enough to even run a department without lots of help. I’m not against giving him the help, but what does this say about how much money Blake should be making?

No. What it says is why is he employed.
