Barry Jackson On Manny Diaz Buyout

Does this guy do talk radio after our games??? Whoever does the 560 WQAM call in show with Danny Rabinowitz after the games is terrible. It’s an ex-player and his opinions and approach are just dreadful.
The ex-player is Rashad Butler. The WQAM postgame show has sucked for a long time.

What UM dummies haven’t realized is they have wasted countless $$$ penny pinching on coaches they could’ve gotten someone actually good and saved tons of money on buyouts and on top of that made more money from good results
They’ve had no embarrassments and kids graduation, so they happy w their coaching hires

All that writing by Jackson to note something that anyone that knows anything about contracts would have told you.

Congrats, Miami drew up a contract that is **** near the industry standard. Unless you have Nick Saban, or Urban Meyer, you aren't making a contract to where a guy gets full salary if he is bought out.

Does it really matter how much exactly it is? ***** gunna be way less than $5M (probably as little as like $2M), and we almost certainly have at least a couple boosters who would be willing to pay that immediately if it meant he was fired today and like Crisotbal was hired. This isn't that complicated. We paid over $4m just to ******* Temple to hire him without doing an interview and yall think it is gunna matter if it costs $4M+ to fire him when he sucks *** and we could hopefully/potentially get someone far better?

There is a reason why everyone made a big deal about Jimbo’s $75m contract with A&M being fully guaranteed and why Auburn was raked through the coals when Malzahn’s buyout was made public. 50-75% is standard.

The only question I would have is what is that percent assigned to. Manny’s true base pay is $250-300k. Some of the bonus thresholds are near guarantees, some would be winning the conference or national title. This is also standard. That part is the other question, along with what percent.
