Barry Jackson New Article & what Mario must do now

Miami can’t afford to fire Mario. The only way out of this nightmare is for Mario to do the honorable thing and resign without any compensation.

We have tons of areas to improve. One of the last people I would look for any insights on what those areas or how to fairly compare Mario to his peers is Barry Jackson. Do everyone a favor and read the version without ads or paywall that someone posted already: https://archive.ph/KF8R8

I mean no other coach will have the financial backing he has is all I’m thinking. So if Mario fails it’ll go back to the way it used to be
The financial backing is not as important as you all make it out to be. Do you think Virginia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Duke, SMU, and Pitt all have more money invested? Because they all have better ACC records. Their is no if at this point. He failed as hard as possible last year and this year we already threw in the towel to start November. This whole money fallacy started as a way to separate Manny and Mario, but the only stat that matters is wins and they are identical.

Completely agree with you. If he loves the U as much as has been reported, I just really hope he takes a long hard look in the mirror and makes substantial changes in how he runs things during the season. He is great at a lot of other things but in season just falls flat for some reason. Maybe he will have a Nick Saban moment of clarity this offseason and get with the times on offense.

Mario can take the possible - and due entirely to his stubborn nature - make the possible - impossible.

Banging your head against the wall - which gives first?

If he needs verification that his basic football approach/model is wrong - he should have already figured that out from all the material garnered last year.

NO! Still doesn't work. Still can't admit his core approach is - unworkable.

I understand - no one wants to have his build and execution theory crash - and have to remodel - but he needs to pull his head out of his anterior *******.

Frederick the Great's horse was with him on all his campaigns - but at the end of the day - it was still a dumb horse.

Barry really wants Mario to bench every kid that makes mistakes and/or penalties?

Penalties- run DL stemming in practice. Heck, maybe use them against our opponents to try to get them to jump. Pretty easy and it likely handles 30-50% of the penalties. Second, flop yourself. Force the refs to enforce the rules both ways and no one will complain about our other penalties.

Mistakes- Beck needs play action or variation on calls so teams don’t sit on the pass or run. Other mistakes, likely also due to coaching.

Is there anyone whom he respects that can sit down and tell him what truly is wrong? Is he impervious to listening to ANY constructive criticism and changing his ways? At this point I believe this is the only Hail Mary we got left to get this guy to make some serious changes in how he does things.
JJ could.

It's pretty freaking simple, actually.

Mario needs to win every game left on the schedule 45-0. That's not hyperbole. That's what Miami is in control of at the moment and what they need to do.

And here's the part that is probably harder to do for Mario than winning every game 45-0. If the above starts to happen, they need to start crafting a media narrative that, "The SMU game was a wake up call. We changed our approach, learned about our team, and now we're peaking at the right moment. We're one of the hottest teams in college football once we found our footing. Yada, yada, yada". Dmoney needs to shout that from the rooftop every podcast.

That's the formula for getting you into the CFP from where we stand. That and a lot of luck.

Agree that the second part is harder than the first.

What a ****** **** show.you have players and coaches holding “schools” hostage. For schools, so called learning institutions they sure havnt learnied anything themselves. It’s the students, alum and fans that support this ****. And, as a side note throw in college sports in bed with legalized gambling.

What makes Jackson’s article stand out more is a number of the coaches he listed with worse conference records, playing conferences where there are many teams better than theirs.

Shane Beamer and Mark Stoops might have five or six better team in the SEC. Even in this more balanced era, South Carolina and Kentucky have little chance of exceeding Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, and Florida. If they do play those teams close or actually win it’s only because those teams is having a down season.

Same for Luke Fickell at Wisconsin and Jonathan Smith at Michigan State in the Big Ten. They have a little chance to compete without Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, and now Indiana. Competitive games are usually down years for those other programs.

Mario has a comparable or better roster than any program in the ACC last season and this season, and has been out-coached and lost as a double digit favorite four times in the last seven ACC games.

This is a pattern, not an occasional upset every coach suffers multiple times in their career. Even Nick Saban.

Mario is seriously underachieving and not living up to The Standard.

What is more disturbing is he doesn’t seem to understand why. Or maybe he does and but can’t thinking of alternative. His former boss and seven-time national champion HC Nick Saban adapted, during Mario’s tenure. What doesn’t Mario understand?

I’m just saying it took all of this for him to even get us to 1 10 win season and the Admin doesn’t have a great track record of picking coaches lol

Richt had us at 10 wins. The #1 pick in the draft got us 10 wins not Mario. I don"t trust his ability to find another QB. The admin doesn’t have a track record of completing a coaching search. Locking in on one guy and hiring him without conducting interviews is how you end up with ****** results over and over again.

Definitely have issues with Mario & can’t stomach last game, but Barry Jackson is a clueless clown.
