That's why it is vital to have clever tight ends and versatile backs. They are so much more effective in the red zone than one dimensional receivers. My dad always thought it was unfair to the defense that Cleveland Gary was allowed to shift into so many sets down near the goal line.

TE, fullbacks, and slot WRs slipping through a zone for a score, I'd hypothesize are the highest percentage plays inside the red zone with that number increasing the closer to goal to go you get.

Nonsense with your X WR on bubble screens or fades are such low percentage roody-poo garbo. Wasted plays. I have a full belly chuckle when I see those fades get lofted up to 5'11" wide receivers. Why don't you just spike the football? Bubble screen to your wide receiver against a real defense (aka not the Big XII or Pac12)...might as well just kick the field goal at that point.
 
It's OK to complain, but this fanbase is way too far out in front of its skis talking about firing coaches and the AD. You don't fire coaches until after 2-3 years of game results to gauge the overall direction of the program.

Pretty **** interesting, big variance on the yards per play. Going into the game I felt Miami should have thrown more anyway since cmu was pretty weak there, but the coaches seemed liked they wanted to establish the run. If we went with what was working and stopped forcing things we would have been straight offensively. When we get in the redzone I dont want to see those bunch formations or even ifromations, spread out, operate from the shotgun and attack and take shots at the endzone. Quit running it on first and second down etc once we get inside the 5-10 yard line or so.

The first fcking thing I see today didn't need to be about how the new OC does the same sht as the last OC.

Then we as fans need to do something about those numbers and by doing that demand change! And the only way to do that is withholding donations, stop paying for tickets and going to games, and finally stop buying merchandise. We do that and those numbers go into the red and hopefully then Blake’s head is on the chopping block! 🙏

The thing is dat, this ain’t his first year. This is year #4 and manny deserves everything he’s getting. And if this season goes as expected, then I hope that heat gets so hot manny is forced to fire his novice/JV coaching buddies and puts the program ahead of his friendships.

Yep. Made that post in another thread. Just stop giving them $$$ and view counts.
 
I expect Lingard, Hightower and Pope to all transfer if they’re playing time doesn’t get significantly better.

I don’t have any inside info AT ALL but their lack of playing time is unsettling and I’m almost 100% sure other coaches are contacting their people inquiring about how happy they are and are letting them know they have a place to land should they want to transfer.

It’s not just about ditching it. It’s using it purposely. If your run game is ineffective then PA is not fooling anyone. If your run
game is humming then PA is effective. So it should be a situational decision whether to use it or not.

We should have ditched it against CMU. The way they were lining up we should have spread things out and passed more. That would have helped the run game.

This is mannys fourth year not first. I think we have plenty of results to gauge the overall direction which is DOWN. Let’s not forget he came from a failed regime. He’s a corch and there’s denying that now.

The board loves Cam but what has he done to basically keep Lingard on the bench and warrant zero PT against CMU? Cam has been okay thus far but not so good to where Lo cant even see the field. Lo is definitely a transfer candidate if he doesn't get PT soon.

Wouldn't blame Hightower either.

If Manny messes this up, his tenure will be the shortest in UM history. We clown FSU/Taggert but Manny aint getting 3 years either. Hes getting 2 years to turn this thing around.

It’s pretty obvious that’s going to happen and then I can’t wait for the fans to say we don’t need them we need real canes and etc. For 20 years it’s been the same story around here it’s pretty impressive if u think about it.

The university has paid too much money to wash their hands of Shanny in year one. He’ll keep his job until the banners and fans dressing as empty seats happen.

At least he is a actual Cane, not a nole. SInce I want Butch, I never wanted Mario but at this point I'm in. Maybe he can get Butch to come back as DC and Recruiting Deity.

Yes. But the defense was not the problem. I think the problem is that we're so young in so many key positions and it's just going to take time.

The coaches, including Manny have made mistakes and they need to be better.

The biggest issue is that Manny created all these expectations with his #TNM hype talking about playing at a championship level and to the Miami standard. To this day the team is not playing at either. In fact, they are worse than mediocre.

What disturbs me the most is that the team was not ready mentally for Central Michigan. They just showed up expecting to blow them out., but not mentally prepared. It really shows the immaturity of the team. No way you put up 20+ against Florida and only get 17 against CMU. We ran the ball on Florida and couldn't at home against CMU. That's guys not ready to play. It falls on the coaches and players.

These guys better get their act together against VT. Otherwise, the fanbase will stop showing up for games and stop caring. This team really can't afford another loss. If we lose another conference game and we're out of the Coastal race, the fans are going to check out.
