He was and that was a disaster. If you recall, the last year or 2 of Bowden's reign was full of problems. Lockerroom was a mess, dissent within the staff, players, etc. and the HCIW issue was problematic.

yeah it was but not for the reason you're making it seem. it had a lot to do with Bowden staying longer than he should as he was already with the school for a few decades. it's not like they hired bowden for a fews years and jimbo took over after those few years.
 
None of this gives me warm feelings about Blake's potential to make a stellar choice, with or without a search firm's 40 names.

...and that would not surprise me one bit. In this new age of social media these guys will do whatever they gotta do to remain relevant.
 
Blake James probably has Rob Chudzinski in the lead for the head coach position. In my opinion a weak and bad choice and one that will reflect poorly on the Chairman of the Board, Stuart Miller.

Chud, despite claims to the contrary, is not a good recruiter he's adequate for an average program. He is intelligent and has been a good offensive coordinator but a lousy head coach at Cleveland where is hometown fans rejected and criticized Chud. He will not be a popular choice with the students or alumni and we'll be looking for a new coach again in 3 years.
 
I thought Cristobal & Schiano were the worst-case scenario candidates but that was until Darrell Bevell's name was added to the mix. If I were Kaaya or Njoku and Bevell was hired I'd transfer.
 
I don't get the Rich Rod obsession some people here have. To me he's always been a good coordinator that is out of his league as HC everywhere he's been. Why the **** would we want that?

Interesting that he says Hue Jackson would not be that interested. That's unfortunate. He's one of the few NFL coordinators I would be ok with. I think the dude is a brilliant coach and has a bright future.

Sounds like we are back to the Chud/Schiano scenario with Butch as a possibility depending on how radioactive they think he is. Ill take Butch in that scenario all day. Still think Herman should be a priority. Best of the young up and coming coaches.

Interesting there is no mention of Pagano as others said. I think Pagano would be a solid move. We could do a lot worse. Ill take Pagano 8 days a week over Chimpano or Chud.

I was high on RichRod but realized he's not as good as advertised. He would be an average hire. I don't know what the search committee is doing but there seems to be a lot of show going on for the fans. Leak names to make appease the fans. Although that can backfire if we go with Chud or Mario.

Mullen
Gundy
Chip
Herman

Those three should be priorities and of those four we should be able to land one.
