If I'm Blake James, I'd tell Manny that if he hires a proven DC and let's him run the show I'd extend him 2 more years. Considering his job will should be on the line too.

That is what Blake James would do. A legitimate athletic director with a spine would say the defense was unacceptable, clean house on that side of the ball and if you don’t, you will be fired next season if things are not drastically improved, and by the way Alabama is week one, so good luck with that. But you’re right, our AD would play patty cakes and hand out an extension after the UNC disaster.
